How does Easygo manage to keep spirits and efficiency so high?

“Company culture is all about sharing similar values and expectations.”

We had a chat with our Office Manager, Jess, about how she keeps the Easygo Office motivated.

Jarrod — “What does Company Culture mean to you?”

Jess — “Well, to put it simply, I think it’s about how you feel when you walk through the door each morning. Nobody wants to hear that their company has no culture. So we work hard to make sure every employee wakes up in the morning happy with where they’ll be at 9am.”

Jarrod — “How do you do that?”

Jess — *laughs* “How much time do you have? We’re really lucky to have an incredibly young, innovative team. Everybody is heard at Easygo, everyone has a voice and I think it’s really important for them to know that. We pride ourselves on a close, family-like team where everyone is comfortable voicing their opinion and asking for help when they need it.

On top of that, we want everyone to have fun. When you spend 8 hours a day at the same place with the same people, it’s imperative you enjoy it. So to answer your question, we go out for company lunch and drinks every Friday, we have a pet friendly environment, a games room, flexible work hours, free fruit, and there’s always upbeat music playing.

If someone isn’t having a good time at work, they know they can talk to me about it and I’ll do everything I can to change that. That’s what we’re here for.

Jarrod — “How do you make sure those close relationships in the workplace stay professional?”

Jess — “To be honest, I don’t. I love that the team are more than just colleagues. They are genuinely friends. I think at Easygo we have really learned to dance between the two. During business hours, the team knows it’s time to get to work and make this place the best it can be. We are all here with the same goal in mind, and that’s the key to the perfect culture.”

Jarrod — “You seem really passionate about your role. What is the inspiration behind the passion?”

Jess — “Ah, yes. There’s plenty of inspiration! I’ve had so many experiences with terrible, toxic work cultures. Now I’m in a position where I can make sure nobody else has to feel the way I have. You could get your dream job, in an industry you studied 6 years to get into, but I truly believe that without a positive work environment, you’ll never be satisfied. Culture is everything.”

Jarrod — “So what’s next for Easygo? Do you think you’ve reached the peak of company culture or is there still work to be done?”

Jess — “Uh, there’s always work to be done. I definitely don’t think we have reached our peak, I believe you can always improve. As we evolve as a company, things continue to change, that means new staff, new ventures, new clients, new offices. With all of those things comes problems that need solving and that’s exactly why you need HR.”
