Risk Taking & Development

Coming straight out of university into a company living in an industry that relies heavily on cryptocurrency; something you know nothing about, can be a challenge.

Just days after a years anniversary of being part of the team, a team that has seemed to nearly double in numbers around me, it begs me to pose the question — did I see myself doing this a few years ago?

The answer is no — but that makes it all the more fascinating that I have enjoyed every second of it, currently not being able to picture myself being anywhere else.

There are two things I have experienced in great depth throughout the last twelve months that have led me to think this way; risk taking and development — both in a way have come hand-in-hand.

The marketing team here at Easygo has increased in the last twelve months, not just in size, but also in scope. There are things we are currently doing that we probably were never thinking about; things we’ve developed as a team.

One value that has taken us a long way is trust.

We don’t sit down for hours every day and discuss every implication and every factor that may result from our latest marketing action. There is no intense corporate style, or even micromanagement.

We trust our instincts, we trust each other and most importantly, we take risks.

Risk taking is a value that runs right through the company, and is probably the value that stems down from the overall inception of this company, amongst many others.

At Easygo, career development has a whole other meaning. The team has the opportunity to move up, down, across or diagonally in the company — that can even mean moving into roles that didn’t exist 6 months ago.

Personally, starting in a graduate position was great — learning the ropes of full time work as well as adjusting to a cryptocurrency industry where previous knowledge was scarce.

Developing into a role more advanced was of course the end goal, but having nothing set in stone meant I was given freedom to take on as much as I could.

Having both trust and confidence enriched in myself amongst others throughout the team means there is enormous scope to gradually move into positions where we are able to develop our own strategies.

More specifically for myself, putting more into our customer retention and using knowledge gained from a gambling industry I know well has seen me develop into a part of a media/marketing industry that I saw myself becoming when I finished University.

Having no specific development path means that the Executives in the business put trust and faith into their employees to create their own path within the company.

I, amongst others, are in control of our own development.

While personally I can only really speak for the risks and the heightened ceiling for development that I am able to capture on a daily basis, the way in which our company operates sees success can be put down to many facets; risk taking and essential development vastly included.
