This post from Netflix about all the effort they put into their show tiles reinforces our idea of spending heavy amounts of resources creating our personalised ones for Stake.com.

When Stake came to us with the challenge of creating a new casino and sportsbook site, we questioned where to look for inspiration. Most people will look into other online casinos, of course, but we didn’t see it in the same way. Stake’s competition is any online entertainment platform, so we started investigating Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, DAZN (or Kayo in Australia), Twitch or Youtube, among others.

It is evident that all these companies were investing heavily on their portfolio tiles — their way of displaying their product to their customers’ eyes.Our design and art team, brilliantly managed by Leo, our Head of design, had generated thousands of these tiles with new ones every week, adapting to the latest additions to the site’s portfolio and tastes of each of the GEOs that Stake serves.This mantra is not only concerning design, but also in regards to marketing. So example, another thing that we wanted to achieve is how Netflix, followed by their direct competition, was able to create huge interest and hype around their new launches, so much so that even another type of media is posting every week about what’s new on these platforms.

Stake game providers expend an enormous amount of hours and money on creating all the new games, with other casinos not giving these games the importance that the OTTs are giving to their new additions. We had to change that.
Part of that job is giving these games separate exposure in their own dedicated section, involving media and influencers in that circle.
For example, below is a newsletter sent to all Stake media partners and influencers with weekly games and sports news.

What’s new on Stake?

Most online sites with casino and sportsbook products only focus on acquiring through sports customers and investing in cross-selling. For the Easygo team, we believe that there is also space to create an entertaining product that could be powerful enough to compete against the OTT giants. This has played well for the casino and has also helped to improve the sports solution, having only the objective to be a good product for its customers and not to act as an acquisition tool for another end objective.

The marketing and product inspiration and ideas come from multiple different places. Still, I believe these two small examples are a clear statement of the site and why it became the leader in their industry, the most-streamed site on Twitch and copied by its competitors multiple times.

For another post, I’ll leave all the sports product marketing and inspiration, but spoiler alert, Stake streams of some of the most important and most significant sports events and competitions globally (NBA, NHL, UFC and more).
