Australia has grown and developed Unicorns like Canva, Airwallex and Linktree, among many others, but will we see a new company arise soon? We are immersed in a new project called Kick, which I believe is in the running to join that elite list, and here are the 11 reasons why:

  1. Kick.com is backed by successful entrepreneurs Edward Craven and Bijan Tehrani. They both have accumulated tremendous knowledge of the streaming ecosystem, influencer marketing and content monetization.
  2. Massive streamers & celebrities have already announced that they will be joining the project and move to this new streaming platform. Drake or TrainwrecksTV for example, have already streamed on Kick.
  3. During the first month of the beta product launch, Kick accumulated more than 550,000 registrations worldwide.
  4. The video streaming size market in 2022 has an estimated value of USD 70 billion, and the revenue forecast for 2030 is USD 330 billion (source grandviewresearch.com).
  5. The spending on stream ads in 2022 is growing at a 45% yearly growth. For example, PlutoTV, a platform only sustained by ads, surpassed a $1 bill revenue mark in 2022.
  6. The GenZ generation is obsessed with streaming; they watched over 30B hours of streams in 2022.
  7. The viewers and content creators are in need of a new platform.
  8. The whole Twitch community has lost face in Amazon after multiple incidents in the last years, including decreasing creators’ revenue split. Amazon is in the middle of the streaming wars with platforms like Netflix, and it’s no longer focused on the interactive live streaming business.
  9. Youtube and Google are more focused on the VOD market and have struggled to find a good UX/UI solution to combine both markets in the same platform.
  10. Kick has already confirmed plans to monetize the platform and their viewers in more creative ways and won’t be restricted only to online advertising and subscription models.
  11. Twitch is known to have inconsistent moderation policies, which has recently caused uproar in the streaming community.
