Machi Machi is a bubble tea chain that recently opened an Instagram-worthy outlet in Montreal. Conveniently located at 1241 Bishop Street, the shop offers a new way of enjoying bubble tea; in a jar.

They have multiple freshly pressed tea, milk tea, and latte flavors that come in this unique packaging, and promise different layers of fun in one bottle.

The aesthetic appeal of the shop is also one reason it is worth visiting. When you enter, you’ll first notice the cute and inviting decor, especially the colorful chairs and the neon sign.

It has a beautiful, minimalistic layout with white counters and walls, and the shop is littered with cute illustrations of their mascot. When the drinks are made, they come from a little hole in the wall and, even those that aren’t bottled, are adorably wrapped.

I opted for the black milk tea ($7.7) with mini taro balls and, while the flavor wasn’t overwhelming, the taro balls added extra texture that elevated the experience. For those wondering, Taro is a plant that has a sweet and mildly nutty flavor, which adds some much-needed pizzazz to the plain black tea and milk combo.

The price range struck me as quite reasonable compared to other bubble tea spots in the city, especially considering their exclusiveness, so the budget girlie in me was satisfied.

I can definitely see this becoming one of my regular girly drink stops, as the minimalist decor calms my ADHD brain enough to work effectively. Also, the staff is quite friendly, and the drinks please both my wallet and my taste buds. So, whether you’re a bubble tea connoisseur or just exploring your palate, give Machi Machi a try if you’re in the area— and don’t forget to sample their tea in a jar!
