Find the answer to your deepest, juiciest burger cravings at 1449 St. Catherine West; Patty Slaps’ first Montreal location. This halal burger joint has a small menu of five different beef burger choices, fries, poutine, drinks, beer, and of course, sauces for extra pizzazz. While the burger choices may seem limiting, it’s fantastic for indecisive folks like me, and also ensures that they’ve got their recipes perfected to a T.

I ended up getting the Crunch-A-Delic burger with a combo of fries, a drink, and a side of aioli sauce, for which I paid a total of $24. Although I’m a die-hard crispy chicken burger fan, the juicy beef patties were so smashingly mouth-watering that I may have been converted. They were crispy on the sides, soft in the middle, and, paired with the caramelized onions and crunchy fries, it gave the burger a perfect balance of texture and taste.

The fries were long, crispy, and very well seasoned, but not soft enough for those who prefer the comfort of Mcdonaldesque fries. However, they feel lower in calories so we considered it a win. They also paired well with the aioli sauce, but the sauce itself was a bit on the thick side and I would go back to try a different one next time.

Another aspect I really loved was the self-ordering system — a godsend for socially awkward souls. There was no need to stammer out an order or make uncomfortable eye contact while choosing a tip option. Just tap, pay, and wait for the timer to count down to your burger. It was efficient and removed my need to rehearse the order a million times in advance.

In conclusion, Patty Slaps slaps hard. From the smash-style halal beef and the well-seasoned fries to the anti-awkward ordering system, it’s a burger joint worth the dime. My experience was a solid 9/10, and frankly, it’s only a dip and a crisp away from perfection.

So, whether you’re a local or just passing through Montreal, Patty Slaps is a great option to satisfy those beef burger cravings!
