Citizen Sleeper was one of those games I could not wait to play from the first moment I heard,

Wake up, Sleeper. Dreaming again?

You are a sleeper, the emulated consciousness of a human who once was, now contained within a body owned by the Essen-Arp corporation. The game begins when you arrive at Erlin’s Eye space station as a fugitive from your corporate owners. In order to survive, you take on any paying job while keeping a low profile to avoid the attention of trackers who might turn you in.

Surviving also means making friends, and one of the first people you encounter is Emphis, the owner of a food stall who offers you your first meal free in exchange for a story. Even though your body is synthetic, you still need to eat for energy. Emphis’ stir-fried fungus satisfies that, and is also spicy enough to actually stimulate your taste sensors.
