Breakfast is the Most Important Meal of the Day Right?

The Farmcart of Athens is a relatively new breakfast and brunch place located on Baxter street. When I visited on this fall morning, I ordered their bacon, egg, and cheese biscuit with a side of house potatoes. If I were to recommend a breakfast place in Athens, I would tell you this is the place to go.

The biscuits had just enough fluff that when you bit into them it felt like you were biting into a cloud. The bacon adds just enough crisp to the bite and the egg adds the softness that you didn’t know you needed. In between bites, you might find yourself pairing the meal with their house breakfast potatoes that pair perfectly with all of their breakfast options. The seasoning that they use has a little spice to jazz up an otherwise boring potato.

Their jams and jellies are to die for. Made in-house daily they are a perfect pairing for your biscuit whether you’re feeling sweet or savory. If you’re feeling savory, they offer a red pepper jelly that adds just enough tang to any meal to make it to die for. In addition to their breakfast options, they offer several lunch pairings.

Whether you’re in the mood for bar-b-q or a chicken sandwich they have you covered. Gluten free or vegetarian? They have you covered too. Their vegetarian options offer you a taste of eggs, avocado aioli, arugula, and several spices. Even those who might not be a vegetarian might want to try this. I tried a bite of my friends’ vegetarian biscuit and it was definitely to die for.

Say you’re gluten free? The gluten free grilled cheese tastes just like the sandwich your mom used to make. Just without the gluten. Their lunch offerings have just as much variety as their breakfast options do. With every meal the most important thing could arguably be the drink you order with it.

They offer a wide variety of coffee, teas, and locally sourced sugary beverages. I normally order a Coke Zero wherever I go with my meal, but here you are forced to order a local brand and taste a different drink than you are used to. Their sugary drinks don’t have the names of Coke or Pepsi but definitely taste as if you are drinking one of the national brands. As COVID precautions are on everybody’s mind.

Their contactless pickup is something that caught my eye. You order on their website and then they will place your order in a trailer that is outside in their parking lot. Making it as easy as grab and go. Not only is this nice for the contactless COVID world, but also it is nice if you are in a rush and need to just grab your breakfast on your way to work.
