Megan Headley, a fourth-year fashion merchandising student at the University of Georgia with her self-compiled “Book of Food.” This book showcases Headley’s favorite eats in Athens and her hometown of Newnan, GA.

A proponent of the idea, “phone eats first,” Megan Headley constantly is capturing pictures on her iPhone of her favorite meals. Headley, a fourth-year fashion merchandising major at the University of Georgia, has a unique passion for food.

“I started off just making a fun book to remember all my favorite foods,” said Headley.

“The Book of Food,” created on Shutterfly, is compiled of pictures of meals had over the course of her freshman year in college from her favorite restaurants in Athens and her hometown of Newnan, GA. There are special appearances of dishes from trips to Atlanta, Savannah and Panama City Beach.

Headley features dishes from Athens restaurants such as The Last Resort, Porterhouse Grill and Mama’s Boy among others. She devoted a page to her favorite thing to order at the beach, oysters, and also reserved a page for various desserts.

Throughout the book, Headley has scattered funny, and “punny,” captions such as “You’re making me crepe-zy! These are the banana, buffalo chicken, and “The Lott” crepes from Pauley’s in Athens, GA.”

Headley said “The Book of Food” now serves as a coffee table favorite in her home. She said her roommates and friends love flipping through the book and seeing pictures of them in her “Food with Friends!” section.

Headley debated creating a second volume of the “The Book of Food,” but said that may come later in the future. She decided for her next Shutterfly book to be titled, “The Book of Friends.”

Headley said, “Yeah, it was definitely worth all the embarrassing times I took pictures of my food in public.”
