Being a food lover, I really enjoyed the movie Ratatouille! Remy, the rat, through a human character, Linguini, prepares many dishes and turn a restaurant into the talk of the town. A film to be savored over and over again and where the specialty dish was the French Ratatouille! For those who did not watch it… do so… and for those who are interested in the ratatouille recipe here’s mine version:

Ingredients for 4 persons:

  • 1 large aubergine
  • 1 red pepper
  • 1 yellow pepper
  • 1 white onion
  • 1 can whole tomatoes
  • fresh oregano leaves
  • salt & pepper
  • sugar
  • olive oil

Finely slice the onion, chop the aubergines into big chunks and slice the peppers into narrow strips. Pour some olive oil in a pan, add the onion, aubergines and peppers and fry for 10 minutes until golden. Add the tomatoes, bring to boil and season with salt & pepper and a teaspoon of sugar. Leave to simmer for 30 minutes. Throw in the oregano leaves and serve as an accompaniment to any fish or meat dish especially barbecued food. You can also dress some boiled pasta with any leftover sauce… and as the culinary genius Gusteau says in the movie Ratatouille : “Anyone can cook!” :)
