Being invited over at friends is always a pleasure, it is even more so if I am granted a laissez-faire position and the organisation of the event is not part of my duties. This New Year’s eve we were invited for dinner at ‘Morning Glory’, as the host wrote in her invitation. It was immediately made known to us that the cooks were quite tense and anxious about our judgement on the food being served. Considering that the host/s are followers of eatmania they are aware of our increasing interest in food and our culinary experiments, and I cannot really blame them for being on the edge! Hence, their efforts doubled and the results were incredibly positive. Here’s a food tour of of our new year’s eve dinner:

We started off with a soft focaccia topped with potatoes, Maltese sausage and rosemary which was a very convincing start.

Following, we had this tasty onion soup which had a sweet and sour twist. The soup was served with grated Maltese ‘pekorino’ cheese and I must say that this particular pecorino cheese was of a very good quality.

Our next entry was lasagnette pasta with broccoli, sausage meat and chili. Anyone who is not a fan of broccoli will surely start liking them after trying this particular spicy combination. The pasta was supreme however I had to stop half way through the portion to leave some space for the next courses.

Just fifteen minutes before the New Year the main course was served. We had these juicy and tender roasted lamb shanks accompanied by crunchy beetroot and sweet carrots. My stomach was reaching its limit yet the lamb was too appetizing to refuse, it just melted in your mouth.

Finally, to close off our lengthy dinner a creamy white chocolate cheesecake which made me start the new year in such a sweet and appealing way!

Thumbs up for Marisa and Thelma for such a genuine dinner prepared with so much attention and dedication. It was definitely worth your efforts and much appreciated!
