Brandon James — ‘Duality Demos: Side A’ (EP)

Brandon James - 'Duality Demos: Side A' (EP)

The name Brandon James caught our attention a while back off the strength of previously released records such as “Right Now” and “Coochie Rap$”. After spending the better half of last year promoting the batches of material we expect to hear in 2016, the Boston emcee recently served up his first collection in Duality Demos: Side A.

An 8-track EP fueled by James’ unwavering confidence, Duality Demos: Side A is a solid welcoming from an artist who has the ability to make some waves on the scene with a refined focus. The two aforementioned singles (“Coochie Rap$” being the intro and “Right Now” as the outro) are fitting standouts, but several other tracks on the EP showcase the best of Brandon’s artistic skill-set.

“Never Fall (All These Days)” (prod. Sevn Thomas & Prezident Jeff) is perhaps the most mature offering on the project with its vivid, personally heartfelt verses and infectious hook while the “Six17” (Interlude) greatly benefits from James’ effectively packaging his bravado and clever wordplay over an intricately produced banger courtesy of Tee-WaTT.

While slightly repetitive thematically, overall Duality Demos: Side A is an enjoyable collection of tracks from Brandon James and we can certainly envision progression on his future releases. Be sure to give the EP a listen below and let us know your thoughts on the project!
