Mr. Fritz- “The City”

Boston’s Mr. Fritz remained relatively quiet throughout the latter half of 2015 after dropping his solid body of work The Glory back in May. But before the year ended, Fritz marked his return with the release of “The City”, a strong offering produced by J1K. As the title suggests, the song features the Boston emcee reflecting on his urban upbringing and the lessons that the streets taught him over the years. Descriptive wordplay and an assertive delivery from Fritz work nicely alongside the gritty yet bright production from J1K, making “The City” a quality cut to have in rotation as we keep tabs on what Mr. Fritz has planned for 2016.
Listen to “The City” below and read some background on the song from Mr. Fritz himself.
“To me, the city is the epitome of a love hate relationship. I love my city for what it made me. But I also hate it for the exact same reason. The City taught me about survival. It also taught me about pain. It taught me about myself and what I would do when put in certain situations. Both in a positive and a negative light. It’s a reflection of who I am as a man. Maybe I’d be completely different if I grew up elsewhere…but one thing’s for certain. I am who I am because of where I come from.”
