How to Guarantee Success

A Five-Year-Old

I had never noticed how buttons were fastened or shoelaces were tied. My mom did it for me, all the time, except one chilly morning. She was late and I had to hurry into my kindergarten uniform to wait for her in the front yard. Everything was going alright until I put on my shirt. For a moment, I stopped. And the world stopped. Tears started to well up. I had no idea how to button my own shirt. I wandered in the rooms hoping someone might still be there to do it for me. Fighting back tears, I saw my brother sound asleep on his bed. He woke up as I stared at him for a few minutes. He asked: “What do you want, Ensi?” I swallowed my distress and said in a low voice: “May you button my shirt?”

He did one button, explaining and showing how it was done. Then, he told me to do the rest myself. I was this close to bursting into tears but I did it! I learnt how the tiny buttons slip into their whole. My eyes were glistening with tears but I smiled. That smile was due to come back on my lips many more times in the coming years.

The Strategy

I kept on applying the “JUST DO IT!” strategy. I jumped into lakes one after the other and repeated to myself, “Worst case scenario? I will have to try again!” If there is something you wish to do, just do it. You will learn on the job. You will find people to help you do it if you are on the right track. Find a safe space and take the leap. Grab a bite of anything that seems appetizing to your tastes. Make sure you devour and digest it when it is still appealing after that first bite.

A 22-Year-Old

Seven years ago, when I started working, I could not even imagine what being an interpreter means. Yesterday, I was in an international conference interpreting wonderful speeches and presentations on peace and development for nearly nine hours! My hands were frozen. I was shaking. I could hear my own heart pumping blood. But I DID IT! And such a great performance! My eyes were glistening while my lips curved into a smile. My body got back to normal and I experienced a wonderful day.

The Tracks

These days, I do many things. I am a student by day and a content manager by night. In my spare times, I am a literary editor, English teacher and translator. For me all these roads meet at one point, I have to be well-read. I have to practice my basic communicative skills. I always wished there was one place with all those capacities, so I do not have to switch between a dozen apps, websites and hard copies whenever I want to work on my knowledge.

The Train

My wish has come true! Ebiblo is a mobile application which makes interactive reading and powerful creative production possible at the same time. Check out the iOS or Android version and see for yourself.
