IoT Experience

Nowadays Internet of Things (IoT) is changing our daily life in different sectors (Healthcare, Agriculture, and Education). First we may ask by ourselves what is IoT, why many IT companies are focusing on IoT projects? In this post, I will provide you with a simple explanation and how it may impact you. Let's see some points together and a point to remember do not say '' The IoT''

WHAT is IoT ?

When you Google what is IoT, many of the answers are technical as follow: The Internet of Things (IoT) is a system of interrelated computing devices, mechanical and digital machines, objects, animals or people that are provided with unique identifiers and the ability to transfer data over a network without requiring human-to-human or human-to-computer interaction.

However let's start with simple and non-technical explanation. If you're old enough think of your cellphone before it was a smartphone, you could call and you could text, but now you can read any book, watch any movie, or listen to any song all in the palm of your hand.

The Internet of Things is actually a pretty simple concept, it means taking all the things in the world and connecting them to the internet. lets clarify this concept, when something is connected to the Internet, that means that it can send information or receive information or both, this approach of sending or receiving the informations makes things smart.

All the things that are being connected to the internet can be categorized into three categories and all three of these have enormous benefits that feed on each other:

  1. Things that collect information and then send it.
  2. Things that receive information and then act on it.
  3. Things that do both.

In this post, we will focus on one category (Things that collect information and then send it). This means sensors. Sensors could be temperature sensors, motion sensors, light sensors, air quality sensors etc. These sensors allow us to automatically collect information and allow us to make more intelligent decisions.

Better Experience

“We are stuck with technology when what we really want is just stuff that works” — Douglas Adams, The Salmon of Doubt

It's inevitable that we will continue to connect our things, people, and environments to make them more intelligent, efficient, and user friendly. We see IoT and related technologies as essential tools to make that happen.
