Natalie Dixon, an ICU nurse in Leeds, demonstrates correct handwashing technique at work.

Since mid-March, we’ve been running a project celebrating coronavirus #silverlinings by inviting people to send in photos of their hands and stories of kindness experienced during the pandemic.

We’ve now had over 50 submissions from all over the UK, USA, Spain, India and Malaysia. We’ve shared submissions from artists, bakers, letter writers, loo roll gifters and privilege checkers.

We’ve even shared a story from a horticulturist from Kew Gardens continuing to protect threatened species in lockdown and a story from Emma Twyford — one of Britain’s top women climbers and the first British woman to climb the grade of 9a – a very strong hand if ever there was one.

What binds these stories all together — whether from children or those in their nineties — are beautiful glimpses of community and goodness in the midst of crisis.

Today, 5th May, is Hand Hygiene Day and we’re joining the WHO in promoting #safehands over on our #LendaHand2020 project.

We invite you to check it out, see our latest post by an ICU nurse in Leeds and send in a story of your own to hands@ecceopus.com.

With love and care,
Tom and Marcus
