Twisting the quote by Daniel Quinn, we come up with “There is no one right way to make your resume!” SIP (Start-up Internship Programme), an integral part of E-Cell, IIT Kanpur organises a ‘Resume Making Session’ every year to help out the sophomore students of IIT Kanpur to make their resumes in a very unique manner. The session is conducted by proficient final year students who deliver all their first-hand experiences of interviews and internships to give the audience the feeling of all the problems faced.

The session includes several techniques to make a good resume. Some of them are — ‘Always present your strengths at the top and your weak points at the bottom’, ‘Include your achievements from school’, ‘Numbers attract the viewer’, etc.The session also includes topics like ‘what an interviewer looks at while reading a resume.’

The last session was taken by Parth Arora (Final-Year Undergrad) on 6th January, ’15. It had an overwhelming response with over 450 students attending it. Parth showed excerpts from resumes of various students who had put in something exclusive in their resumes. He gave many tips and techniques like the ones mentioned above and highly emphasized on putting strong points at the top. He also told about how we have to make different resumes for different fields.
