Echo Arena VR Challenger League Update
Format & Prizing Changes
With the conclusion of the NA and EU Regionals, and after gathering feedback from the Team Captains, some format changes are in store for the Echo Arena VR Challenger League! These changes will take effect in the next Weekly Cups on November 12th, and will soon be reflected in the Official Rules.
North America League Format
- The maximum amount of Weekly Cups will be reduced from 5 to 2, with each Cup holding more teams than before.
- The seeding format for the Weekly Cups will be changed to “Snake”.
- Teams that took 1st Place in the NA Regionals are permitted to keep competing and earning prizes and points in the Weekly Cups.
Europe League Format
- The amount of Weekly Cups for EU will remain at 1 until a 2nd Cup is necessary.
- The seeding format for the Weekly Cups will remain “Flat”, as before.
- Teams that took 1st Place in the EU Regionals are permitted to keep competing and earning prizes and points in the Weekly Cups.
Team Prizing Changes
In both NA and EU, prizing changes distributed on a per-team basis are as follows:
- 1st Place: Increased to $/€210 from $/€150.
- 2nd Place: $/€135 will now be awarded; previously no cash prize was awarded for 2nd Place.
- 3rd Place: $/€90 will now be awarded; previously no cash prize was awarded for 3rd Place.
- 4th Place: $/€60 will now be awarded; previously no cash prize was awarded for 4th Place.
- Teams that take 17th+ place will be awarded 1 VRCL Point.
The Weekly Cups will continue into 2018, and the last Weekly Cups where teams can earn points to determine their elibility to participate in the Grand Finals is on February 4th, 2018.
