It’s time for a change! After some community feedback, we wanted to dive in and make a handful of adjustments to the Meteor. These changes should bring this powerhouse weapon back into the area of zone control and area denial like it should be.

We’ve made the following adjustments:

Projectile

  • Projectile Damage Changed from 20 -> 30
  • Projectile Damage Modifier on Arm hit changed from 100% to 50%
  • Projectile Damage Modifier on Leg hit changed from 100% to 30%

Dev Note: Hitting a player directly with the Meteor requires high skill and should still be rewarding, so we’ve taken some of the Explosion damage and moved it to the projectile. We also want to reward accuracy while still making the gun feel fair, so the projectile now respects proper modifiers for clipping someone in the arms or legs. Head and Torso damage maintain their 100% damage modifier.

With this change, you’ll notice that the Meteor no longer kills in 2 direct hits. We wanted to make sure that players weren’t instantly deleted by teams running 2 meteors without a chance for counterplay.

Explosion Damage

  • Explosion Damage changed from 50 to 40
  • Explosion Damage Modifier on Arm hit changed from 100% to 70%
  • Explosion Damage Modifier on Les hit changed from 100% to 50%

Dev Note: The Meteor was melting players who had their legs or arms slightly exposed, causing a lot of frustration. While the Meteor is a siege and territory control weapon, it did not respect the body part scaling that most of the other guns have. So, we’ve brought down the modifier damage to help provide more counter-play when facing off against teams running multiple Meteors.

Here’s a couple of notes on what to expect for Meteor damage going forward:

  • Head / Torso — Projectile Damage: 30
  • Head / Torso — Explosion Damage: 40
  • Arm — Projectile Damage: 15
  • Arm — Explosion Damage: 28
  • Leg — Projectile Damage: 9
  • Leg — Explosion Damage: 20

We’re excited for the community to test out the changes and to see how the game shifts. We can’t wait to hear your feedback!
