We’re excited to announce Echo Pass, a new seasonal event pass where players can earn new rewards by playing matches in Echo VR, is coming soon™! We’re also sharing updates around a new customization system, an upcoming Private Test Server, and more — read on for the details.

Echo Pass

Echo Pass will feature a brand new reward track available to all players to unlock rewards throughout the season, with the option to convert to Premium and unlock additional rewards. The Premium pass will cost 1000 Echo Points and nearly triples the amount of rewards users can earn throughout the season. After each season, all progression resets and a new set of rewards become available for players to earn at the start of the next season.

Echo Pass Season 1 Rewards

Our first season will offer 50 reward tiers, consisting of character customizations, heraldry, personal TXP boosts, group TXP boosts and Echo Points. Players can earn Tier Experience Points (TXP) by playing matches, and TXP unlock additional Echo Pass Tiers.

Echo Points and how to purchase Echo Pass Premium

Echo Pass Premium can be unlocked by purchasing “Echo Points” in-game or through Oculus DLC. Players can currently redeem Echo Points in a couple different ways:

● Unlocking access to the Premium Echo Pass via the Customization Terminal — the Premium Echo Pass costs 1000 Echo Points

● Premium Echo Pass users can then purchase tiers of the Echo Pass — each tier costs 200 Echo Points

Echo Points can be purchased in various bundles:

● $4.99*- 500 Echo Points
● $9.99*- 1000 Echo Points +50 Bonus = 1050 Total Echo Points
● $19.99*- 2000 Echo Points +140 Bonus = 2140 Total Echo Points
● $49.99*- 5000 Echo Points +450 Bonus = 5450 Total Echo Points

Players can expect more ways to redeem their Echo Points coming later this year!

New Customization System

Over the years players have asked us for additional customization options. We’ve heard your feedback and have worked diligently to overhaul in-game customizations. We have streamlined some current rewards and created brand new categories for players to collect. With the addition of these new rewards we have had to adjust some of the previous rewards to fit within the new set of customizations.

Our biggest focus was to give players more options for expression in-game. Highlighting creativity, customization, and style drove these decisions.

○ Body Customizations

Chassis — Players had previously only been able to swap their chassis based on the mode they were playing. Chassis is no longer restricted by game mode and can be used everywhere.

Boosters and Bracers — A new addition to Echo VR. Players see their arms the most, so we wanted to ensure they had one available customization easily visible at all times. We also provided the opportunity for players to customize their booster packs as well, since this is something other players generally see most often.

○ Heraldry

A new form of customization, drastically expanding and reworking our old ideas for customization. This is really where players get to pick and choose their identity for others to see.

Banners — Highlight accomplishments inside matches and display banners on the walls of the Arena after scoring a goal. Banners display all the elements of customization but are primarily focused on shapes.

Tags — Tags rest below the player name during matches and in the social lobby. Another fully customizable element, but players primarily choose the tag shape.

Emblems — Emblems are what players choose as the icons that rest within banners and tags. We have kept our old system and allowed players to utilize emblems in even more ways.

Patterns and Tints — Allow players to represent their expression through color and texture. These apply to banners, tags, and some chassis.

Medals — Rewards for reaching a specific milestone. Used for displaying how far a player has progressed in their career or through promotional events. These are placed on banners.

■ Titles — Text based rewards that are displayed above a player’s banner and name tag.

Expanded Leveling Track Rewards

The new customizations do not only apply to Echo Pass, Echo Arena, and Echo Combat, but leveling track rewards have also been revamped to include new heraldry, bracer, booster, and chassis. The Echo Arena and Echo Combat leveling track rewards have been combined to allow more access to a wider range of players.

Other New Features

● With the ability to equip any outfit and heraldry during a match, a new team color shader has been added to allow players to identify their teammates and opponents no matter what they have equipped.

● Our Echo VR Community Values have been added to the game, and each player is briefly familiarized with them when logging in for the first time after the patch is live.

● Players will now load into the Staging Area, a quieter section of the Lobby. Need a moment? Take a breather in the Staging Area.

● New splash screens have been added when the player launches Echo VR. These screens will have information on new features or important updates as well as legal information.

● Helpful loading tips now appear while players are transitioning.

Private Test Server

With the number of customization, chassis, and team color changes being implemented with the Echo Pass patch, our team has decided to open a limited Private Test Server (PTS) to test features and collect community feedback. Quest 2 is the recommended hardware for the PTS. Rift and Quest players may experience increased performance issues. Playing Echo Combat during the PTS is also not recommended due to increased performance issues.

The PTS for Echo Pass is live now! Join us tomorrow, January 26th at 4pm PST for a special “Play with the Devs” event on the PTS.

Learn how to sign up for the PTS here.

For information and step by step instructions on how to download the PTS, click here.

Share your feedback from the PTS with us here.

Run into a bug? Let us know here.

After the PTS is closed, our team will review feedback and discuss updates in our Echo VR Mission Briefing livestream. Our official launch date for Echo Pass will then be released via another announcement soon™ .

As always, Echo Units, thank you for all your love, support, and honest feedback over the years.
