Lone Echo Patch Highlights

Major Performance & Optimization Improvements

For the past few weeks, we’ve been hard at work on tracking down crashes and analyzing performance hitches and getting them resolved (we resolved over 20 crashes alone!). We hope these changes make your experience buttery-smooth while you enjoy the wonders of space.

Separating Lone Echo and Echo Arena Apps

Lone Echo and Echo Arena will now be updated as two separate applications, which means Lone Echo owners need to add the stand-alone Echo Arena app to their Oculus Library to launch Echo Arena moving forward. Echo Arena will be automatically available for download after purchasing Lone Echo.

Patch Notes will now Contain Spoilers

Some of the bugs we fixed are further along in the game and enter spoiler territory. Please read at your own risk if you haven’t yet completed the game! Really spoiler-y notes will have a [S] preceeding the entry.

Bug Fixes

General

  1. Players starting a new save after completing the game can now grab the disc during the Manual Dexterity tutorial.
  2. Players should no longer find themselves “trapped” in walls when respawning in Jack’s room.
  3. Crashing the Extreme Drifter inside the airlock and dying will no longer spawn players outside of the world.
  4. Fixed an issue where save files could become corrupted when attempting to load a file at the same time an autosave is triggered.
  5. Replacement fuel rods should now respawn as intended.
  6. Fixed a few issues related to labor unit limbs getting jammed in the processing line.
  7. Certain VO lines were triggering at wrong moments or were getting cut off prematurely. These should be fixed now.
  8. The laser cutter reticle should now appear after unlocking it (before, it would only appear after the player respawned).
  9. [S] Fixed an issue where players would spawn into a textureless Apollo core room after entering the room then dying outside of it.
  10. [S] Apollo wakes up more reliably when using the AI terminal control in the terminal room.
  11. [S] Liv will no longer disappear on the Fury transport ride to the Alien bridge.
  12. [S] Touching the base of the captain’s chair on the alien ship should no longer initiate warp drive.

Performance

  1. Crashes should no longer occur when pressing the “Depressurize” button in the airlock.
  2. Cutting the panel to free Liv’s foot will no longer result in a game crash.
  3. Loading certain legacy save files would result in major performance issues; that has been fixed.
  4. Tracked down and fixed a memory leak.
  5. Changing graphics settings or resizing the game window should no longer cause a crash.
  6. Choosing a destination to travel to on the Fury transport should no longer result in a performance drop.
  7. There should no longer be a hitch when the game saves.
  8. Significant improvements to performance were made for when players open the first airlock door from the pod room.
  9. The client should no longer crash when players select “OK” after receiving the Failed Entitlement Check message.
  10. [S] Players should no longer crash when inserting the rewritten Logic Core on the alien ship’s bridge.
  11. [S] Activating induction panels on the alien ship should no longer cause a dip in performance nor should it cause a crash as was previously reported.
