Dear EC LOC Family,

On Friday, September 22nd, we reached a huge developmental milestone — we turned one year old! Happy One Year Anniversary! If you didn’t already have a response to Earth, Wind, and Fire’s most famous question, now you do.

It was not a given that we’d make it to this point.

Last year, guided by the perspectives, aspirations, and needs many of you clearly articulated, we set out to create an affinity space for us — leaders of color in early childhood — to be in community with each other to prioritize our wellness, our shared learning, our social capital, and our collective power.

We set out to ensure the Collaborative was for us and by us.

To do so, we focused on setting up systems to ensure the strategic direction of the Collaborative was determined by EC LOC in the Collaborative and that programming was co-created alongside members. Put more simply, we could not have done anything this year without you all.

So, thank you.

Thank you for continuing to show up fully. Thank you for affirming each other. Thank you for being willing to build trust. Thank you for co-creating alongside us. Thank you for sharing your visions and aspirations for what this Collaborative can be at its best. Thank you for being you.

As we enter our toddler years, we are ready to continue to navigate the challenges along the way. We stand resilient, deeply believing in our vision because in community we find rest. We find hope. We find rejuvenation. We find joy. We achieve liberation.

Onward,
Promise EC LOC Collaborative Team
