We have come to a point where we should use our resources wisely. Creativity & Innovation are the major tools in this war against the large consumption of resources. Food waste that decomposes in landfills releases methane, a greenhouse gas that is at least 28 times more potent than carbon dioxide.

How can I increase my efficiency to use my limited resource? Here are some ideas to ideally use our leftovers from the kitchen, household items, etc.

Tip#1: Crush eggshells and feed your garden- The eggshells offer a healthy dose of calcium for your garden and a great food supplement(ground eggshells) for pet birds.

Tip#2: Use leftovers to make a soup-With some broth, sprouted garlic and onion, a little protein from meat or beans, and some seasonings to finish it off, you can make a limitless number of tasty soups from any assortment of leftover veggies.

Tip#3: Compost-give you nutrient-rich soil for your plants. When the food is truly past its date, compost it in a backyard composter or municipal one

Tip#4: Skincare out of Kitchen Waste-

  • A mixture of Coffee grounds and water helps in dead skin removal
  • Potato or Cucumber peels can lighten dark circles
  • Banana peel can reduce fine lines and wrinkles

For all kinds of reasons — environmental, social and financial — it makes sense for us to get smarter about fully using the food that we purchase. And that means getting smarter about leftovers. Efficiently using what we have is the best way to contribute towards balancing the usage of resources on earth.
