Common Excuses Made By People, For Doing Nothing About The Climate Crisis

1. It's not my job to worry about the climate crisis, but the job of our elected government representatives. That's what we voted them in for.

2. I recycle, eat organic, and do everything I can to be eco-friendly, but I have a job, career, house expenses, so I'm really way too busy to get politically involved and fight climate change.

3. We have done so much damage to the earth that fixing it will demand the cooperation of the best minds and intellects from every race, creed and tongue on the planet. When I think about how complex the problem is and what it will take to fix it, I become kind of numb and I conclude that as an individual, nothing I can do can make any difference at all.

4. Green energy is a nice idea, but the costs involved in shifting from fossil fuel energy to green energy are so huge that I don't think it'll ever happen. And until the rest of the world goes green, I'm not going to stop driving my fossil fuel car for anybody.

5. They tell you to 'Trust the Science,' but why should I? The science around climate change and global warming is very vague and speculative and none of the scientists agree about when it will happen or how bad it will be. So how can you take it seriously?

6. There are many problems in the world, such as Covid, the wars in the Ukraine and the Middle East. Isn't it better we solve them first before worrying about climate change?

7. I know ecology is important, but the earth itself is not a conscious, intelligent entity like we are. So it doesn't have the same rights as we do. That also goes for animals, aquatics, trees and other non-human entities. And even if some animals do go extinct in the wild, at least we will still have them in wildlife reservations and zoos.

8. I would take more interest in the green movement if it wasn't run by climate change alarmists, political extremists, socialists and vegan fanatics. Not that I don't care about what they're doing in the Amazon, but no oneis going to take away my inalienable right to eat a Big Mac.

9. I believe in the climate crisis, but I try to avoid informing myself of the facts behind it, because the reality is too horrible and depressing to think about.

10. In the end, people are too selfish, stupid, materialistic and greedy to make the necessary sacrifices to save our planet from the approaching catastrophe. So why bother???

11. Climate change is just another Conspiracy theory created by the oil corporations and the deep state to keep us all enslaved.

12. As long as the fossil fuel corporations are in control, nothing will be done. Big business only cares about profit. The politicians only care about political power. And all the voters care about is consuming. The system of free market capitalism is the root of the problem. And as long as it exists, nothing we say or do will make any difference.

These are just a few of the bad excuses that people make about why they're doing very little or nothing about climate change, I'm sure there are lots more. Add some if you can think of any!
