To create a campaign using Campaign Budget Optimization, you will need to set up your campaign within the following parameters:

  • Advertising Objective: App Installs (Non-AEO), Conversions (oCPM)
  • Bid Strategy: Lowest Cost
  • Billing Event: oCPM
  • Delivery Type: Standard
  • Dedicated Campaigns: iOS 14 Dedicated Campaigns are not supported
  • Split Test: Not supported

2. Targeting Recommendation

About Targeting Recommendation:

Targeting Recommendation is a feature on TikTok Ads Manager that lets you identify relevant audiences for your ads. When you are setting up your ad group’s targeting, it will provide you with a collection of recommended Interest & Behavior categories from the audience most likely to contribute to your campaign’s advertising objective.

How Targeting Recommendation works

TikTok Ads Manager will analyze the performance of similar ad groups from similar advertisers along with the performance of existing ad groups in the same account, which will be included and analyzed. Based on the analysis, it will recommend a list of Interest & Behavior categories of the audience most likely to convert.

3. DMP Audience (Custom/ LAL Audience)

About Custom Audiences

Custom Audiences is an ad targeting option that lets you find people who already know or have engaged with your business.

This type of targeting is a powerful tool for re-marketing, reaching possible repeat customers, increasing your following, increasing app engagement

A minimum audience size of 1,000 is required to target Custom Audiences in an ad group.

About Lookalike Audience

Lookalike Audience can help you find audience groups that share commonalities with your existing customers. It could help you find audiences that are interested in your product and expand your audience range.

How Lookalike Audience Works

The model will use algorithms to study the attributes of the custom audience you create. For example, we will analyze attributes of the users from the Custom Audience type you selected, such as demographics, location, operating system, interests, etc. Then, we will look for other users and groups who share similar attributes.

The accuracy of the user list produced by the model is based on the audience you provide us. To ensure the model runs efficiently, we recommend a size of 10,000 people for your source audience. You must ensure that the list and attributes you provide are correct.

Another factor the model considers is which option you select for Audience Size, either Specific, Balanced, or Broad. The more specific the audience size, the more similar an audience the model will look for.

Lookalike Audiences Application

You can use Lookalike Audience throughout the different phases of the Ad Group delivery.

Cold start: During this phase, Lookalike Audience can shorten the exploration time and help the algorithms learn more quickly which group of users will be interested in your ads, and the product you are promoting, helping you obtain conversions faster.

Mature delivery phase: When your delivery curve is at its peak and has reached a satisfactory number of conversions, you can use Lookalike Audience to expand your audience further and maximize your ROI.

Decline phase: When your Ad Group delivery is in decline, you can use Lookalike Audience to extend the life cycle of your delivery.

4. Deeplinking

A deeplink is a URL that points to a specific location on a website or app such as a product page, a form, or another important page that an advertiser chooses. For TikTok app advertising, deeplinks directly send users from the TikTok ad click to specific content inside the advertiser’s App for users who already have it downloaded.

Deeplinking provides many benefits for app marketers including:

  • Optimized User Experience: Shorten the user’s journey to find important parts of your app like a product page or other action-oriented pages.
  • Improved Retention & Engagement: Deeplinking can promote usage of an app for those users who have it downloaded by reengaging and sending them to new, interesting content that they haven’t previously seen.

How Deeplinking Works

  1. Deeplink is implemented as the click event
  2. The ad gets clicked
  3. If advertiser app is installed, user gets redirected (via the deeplink) to a specific content page within an app
  4. If advertiser app is not installed, user gets redirected to an AppStore to install the app. After the user installs the app, the user then gets redirected to a specific content page within the app, as specified by the deeplink. This is known as deferred deeplinking.

5. Reach and Frequency (R&F)

Compared to Auction ads where ad delivery will be determined by a variety of factors like your bid or bid strategy, Reach & Frequency is an ad Buying Type that allows you to schedule campaigns with predictable reach and controlled frequency at a set cost.

Currently, Reach & Frequency supports the following Advertising Objectives: Reach, Video Views, and Traffic.

When creating a Reach & Frequency campaign three Ad Group selections will be used to predict the outcome and total cost.

  • Targeting: This will determine the audience size that you may reach.
  • Schedule: This will define when your ads will be delivered.
  • Reservation and purchase method: This will allow you to control your budget, impressions, reach, or percentage of the audience reached.

Once you enter these selections at the Ad Group level, the system will use these inputs to predict the estimated Reach, Impressions, Cost per Mille (CPM), Frequency, and Budget for the Ad Group.

6. R&F Campaign Forcaster
