How to create TikTok pixel

- Create a Tiktok Pixel
- Access TikTok Ads Manager Dashboard
- Select Assets > choose Event
Click Create Pixel to create a new TikTok pixel
- Set name of Pixel, select Manually install pixel code and click Next
- Select Standard Mode > Click Create
Note: Once you select a mode, it can’t be changed.
- Click Copy Pixel Code to add TikTok pixel to Shopify/website/landing page
- In the Builder interface, choose Settings > Javascript/CSS Code, then paste the pixel code copied in the previous step into the <head> tag and close with the </head> tag as below. Close the setup window and publish.
Note: Put the code in both product page and thank you page if available
- Input your website into Verify pixel code installation to check whether the pixel code was installed correctly or not.
Note: Other option to check if your Pixel was successful is installing TikTok Pixel Helper. You will see the TikTok Pixel Helper icon in Chrome then accesss the link you attached TikTok pixel and click the icon to check whether your tag is working correctly or not.
2. Create Events
After you add TikTok Pixel to Spotify/ Website/ Landing Page, it automatically tracks 4 events:
- ViewContent: When a user views a product site.
- AddToCart: When a user adds a product to a shopping cart.
- StartCheckout: When a user clicks on the checkout button.
- Checkout: When a user completes a purchase and views the thank you page
Tracking actions help you attach specific website visitor actions to achieve your business goal like the purchase or add to card. There are two kinds of tracking events:
- URL Events: including the confirmation page after purchase or thank you page after a lead generation. This count users' visit to specific web pages by tracking URL keywords.
- Click Events: adding something to a cart, submitting a form, downloading an app… This counts every time someone clicks on something on your website by tracking web elements.
✔ URL Events:
- Click Enter URL Keywords
- Select Event Type for URL event
- Enter keywords from the URL of the page you want to track.
For example, if you want to track: sample.com/id8643/thankyou > Type thankyou. To add more keywords, click the (+) to the right and enter the keyword.
- Create more events by choosing + Enter URL Keywords or + Add Web Elements
- Review your events and click Complete Setup.
✔ Click Events
- Insert your website on the left side to sync your website with the event setup how your website will run on TikTok ads.
- Once your website is synced in the preview and in your mobile device then click + Add Web Elements to start.
- Available web elements are highlighted in blue. Choose to record an element under Select clicked element.
- Select Event Type for this click event
- Choose more events by clicking + Enter URL Keywords or + Add Web Elements
- Choose Complete Setup
✔ Statistics Type
Choose Every Time you want to know if one user completes an event multiple times or choose Once if you want only one event to be recorded per each user.
✔ Make changes
Even after you add Tiktok Pixel for Tiktok ads, you still can make changes: adding new events, editing existing events, or Editing in the pixel details page.
