ECOMI Monthly Update- Feb + March 2022

The first quarter of 2022 has come and gone, and with it some truly monumental changes have taken place across the ecosystem. From the OMI token migration and a new listing on BitMart, to the first driveable NFTs and a celebration of Black History Month and Women’s History Month on VeVe, it’s been another incredible start to the year!

February 2022

February was all systems go as the OMI token migration took center stage. The token swap site is now open for anyone who is yet to migrate their tokens from the original GoChain OMI, or wrapped OMI (wOMI) tokens to the new ERC20 token. This also coincided with an update to the Secure Wallet, which now natively supports the new ERC20 OMI token ⭕️

In terms of exchange partners, AscendEX was quick to complete the token swap and now only offers trading of the new ERC20 OMI token.

At the time of writing, Bitforex continues to allow deposits and withdrawals of both the old GoChain OMI and the new ERC20 OMI. This means you will have two separate OMI token addresses to deposit/withdraw, so if you are using Bitforex please pay attention when selecting the wallet/chain you are transacting on, or see this article for more information.

Reminder: When you withdraw the new ERC20 OMI token you must send it to an Ethereum address. The original GoChain OMI token, and wrapped OMI (wOMI) tokens are now redundant and should be manually migrated using the instructions below if you have not done so yet.

At the time of writing OKx is still in the process of integrating the ERC20 OMI token. Trading is currently live on the exchange, however, deposits and withdrawals are not yet enabled. are still completing their wallet upgrades and maintenance to allow deposits and trading of the new ERC20 OMI token.

The exchange has recently announced a range of new measures and user restrictions that may affect your ability to withdraw, however they have recently enabled withdrawals of the new ERC20 OMI token to allow users to retrieve their funds before being affected by these new procedures.

If you currently have OMI tokens stored on, and are affected by the new KYC measures, please withdraw them immediately to prevent any account restrictions and issues.

Some of the ECOMI Fam may be unaware that around 12 months ago we established a Uniswap pool for the wrapped OMI (wOMI) token. Uniswap is a decentralized exchange, allowing anyone in the world to purchase OMI tokens, and providing token holders with an opportunity to earn passive income on their OMI by providing liquidity to the token pool.

Now that we have completely migrated our token and ecosystem to Ethereum, the wOMI token is redundant, and we have established a new Uniswap liquidity pool using ERC20 OMI.

Ethereum users can now use features like MetaMask swap to purchase their OMI tokens from this pool, and/or provide liquidity if they wish to!

In a coming article release we will show you how to become a liquidity provider, and of course detail any risks and considerations to keep in mind, in our efforts to improve access to the OMI token for fans around the world.

Black History Month on VeVe

Hot on the heels of Lunar New Year in January, VeVe celebrated Black History Month in February with a number of digital comic NFTs and the highly anticipated release of Marvel's Black Panther!

These celebrations also featured a range of first appearances, including:

Special mention also goes to Marvel Digital Comics — Uncanny X-Men #170 for bringing us the classic battle between Storm and Callisto, and Marvel Digital Comics — Spider-Men #1, where Ultimate Spider-Man Miles Morales meets the one and only Peter Parker, your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man, for the Very First Time!

VeVe Drops

No Time to Die

Aside from Black History Month, there were plenty of things to celebrate on VeVe in February. 007 fans had their prayers answered as new collectibles dropped from the recent film No Time to Die thanks to a co-licensing partnership with Triumph Motorcycles and Aston Martin.

Just like in the film, the animated Aston Martin DB5 was outfitted with a pair of mini-guns that emerge from the front headlamps, as well as opening doors and steerable wheels. Of the 514 secret rare editions to be released, 7 lucky collectors also managed to acquire one with the “JB 007” license plate, becoming one of the rarest collectible items on the app.

In case you missed it the Aston Martin DB5 was also the first vehicle (officially) to be released with controllability. That means that VeVe Collectors can now literally drive their DB5 around in augmented reality!

This feature will continue to be added to future vehicle releases as we continue to add new utilities to our premium digital collectible offering.

We also celebrated Valentine’s day in February with a special Disney Golden Moments release, featuring everyone’s favorite feathered friends Donald Duck and Daisy Duck, and the iconic love between the pampered Cocker Spaniel and the freewheeling mutt which originally captured hearts on the big screen in Walt Disney Animation Studios’ 1955 musical classic, Lady and the Tramp.

Mighty Jaxx

Although there wasn’t strictly a Mighty Jaxx release in February, holders of the Inked Stories: Eve NFT (originally made available during DesignerCon 2021) were able to claim a limited-edition premium format figure exclusively for owners of the VeVe digital collectible NFT.

In Case You Missed It:

In our ongoing efforts to improve communications, and update any erroneous/inconsistent information, two articles were released in February on the VeVe blog to re-establish edition types and bring everyone up to speed on account restrictions.

If you haven’t read them yet please check them out below!

We also released details for the highly anticipated Payout feature. With it, we have since established a Q2 roadmap, which requires the rollout of the web platform, and system-wide KYC procedures before Payout can be enabled for all users. It is expected that these integrations will be complete by the end of Q2, pending testing.

March 2022

March began with our first artist spotlight of the year featuring Matt Gondek ahead of his inaugural VeVe release- Failure of Control. Matt Gondek is a Deconstructive Pop Artist whose work is possessed with a punk rock spirit, celebrating rebellion and destruction. With a visceral pop color palette and a disarmingly playful tone, he tears down cartoon idols, akin to slaughtering our modern-day gods.

Failure of Control was a painting from Gondek’s 2019 exhibition CONTROL in Los Angeles. The piece, like in its name, is about the absolute loss of control — represented by the chaotic nature of the work.

This was followed shortly after by Gondek’s Weapons Racks, a provocative piece of work that came to Gondek during the summer of 2020 during protests and rioting in his home in Downtown Los Angeles and the rest of the country.

Ukraine Relief Project

Our hearts, thoughts, and prayers truly go out to all of those affected by the current conflict in Ukraine, and our gratitude for both Ron English and everyone in the Fam who participated in this charitable event can never be fully expressed in words. 🙏

Through the sale of two of Ron’s pieces- Grade School Guernica 2022, and Sunflower Grin- Special Mission- we were able to raise and donate an incredible $782,000 to the NZ Red Cross and the International Committee of the Red Cross for Ukraine refugee relief.

While we will continue to look for additional opportunities to contribute to these humanitarian efforts, and more in the future, if you would like to contribute you can also help support the humanitarian effort by donating to the New Zealand Red Cross’ Ukraine Humanitarian Crisis Appeal today.

Women's History Month

March was one to be remembered as our brand partners came together to celebrate Women’s History Month with an incredible array of female-focused NFT releases.

From Marvel, we saw the first appearance of:

Marvel Digital Comics — What If #105 featuring VeVe-Exclusive Rare & Ultra Rare covers by Ron Lim and Israel Silva.

Similarly, The United States Postal Service (USPS) returned to VeVe with stamp art commemorating Women’s History Month and the 50th anniversary of the passage of Title IX!

The passage of Title IX was a civil rights law prohibiting discrimination on the basis of sex from any educational program or activity receiving federal financial assistance. The stamp art features four unique designs representing female athletes, specifically a runner, a swimmer, a gymnast, and a soccer player. Yellow laurel branches, symbolic of victory, rest in their hair and on the swimmer’s cap.

USPS — Stamp Art — Title IX — designed and created by Melinda Beck. Derry Noyes served as art director.

The acclaimed Rewind Collective finished off Women's History Month with the continuation of their House of Cards series! House of Cards is a series depicting courageous and powerful women throughout history, both mythical & real- women who shaped the world.

This incredibly limited edition release saw 8 ultra-rare collectibles released in blind-box format, which included Frida Kahlo, Anne Boleyn, Emmeline Pankhurst, and Harriet Tubman to name a few.

Big shoutout also goes to the Women X VeVe, who manage a safe space in the VeVe discord server for all of our female Fam. You can also find them on Twitter if you haven’t joined them yet!

VeVe Drops

Disney Duos!

Disney golden moments made another appearance in March, immortalizing some of the most beloved character pairs in these limited-edition golden NFTs. From Timone and Pumba to Winnie the Pooh and Piglet, the nostalgia was running high ahead of this incredible release. Don’t forget if you missed the drop you can collect your favorites in the VeVe Market!

Pixar Pals

Pixar Animation Studios, a wholly-owned subsidiary of The Walt Disney Company, is an Academy Award®-winning film studio with world-renowned technical, creative, and production capabilities in the art of computer animation.

The Northern California studio has created some of the most successful and beloved animated films of all time, including “Toy Story,” “Monsters, Inc.,” “Cars,” “The Incredibles,” “Ratatouille,” “WALL•E,” “Up,” “Brave,” “Inside Out,” “Coco” and “Soul.” Its movies and technology have won 40 Academy Awards® and the films have grossed more than $14 billion at the worldwide box office.

Gary Baseman

Our second artist spotlight of the month introduced the VeVe Fam to Gary Baseman, and one of his most well-known and beloved characters- Toby. Known as everyone’s “best friend” and “keeper of secrets,” Toby is an all-knowing and compassionate cat with a great sense of curiosity and adventure, and was made available in 6 fun and playful poses for the Fam to enjoy!

Gary Baseman is known for his broad art practice that includes award-winning illustration and animation (Emmy and BAFTA-award winning Teacher’s Pet), fine art, performance, toy design, and fashion.

Baseman coined the term “Pervasive Art” in the early 2000s and states, “Art can be appropriate in almost any medium, from print to TV to film to paintings to consumer products, as long as you stay true to your aesthetic and have a strong sense of meaning.” Now, Baseman continues to explore and blur the boundaries of art, expanding into the depths of the digital world with his first NFT release on VeVe!

VeVe Updates

The VeVe app is in constant development, and although a lot of those optimizations and upgrades are not forward-facing, a few key updates and new features were rolled out in March.

The first is the ‘promo code,’ which was test-run by Marvel with a physical/digital comic redemption promotion. This feature enables innumerable product tie-ins with physical collectibles, movie tickets, redeemable digital items, and more, and we look forward to expanding on these capabilities as the year progresses.

Second, VeVe users can now also track the estimated value of their premium collectible and comic book collections through the Profile tab. Simply select Profile > Collectibles or Profile > Comics to see the estimated value of your collections in the header bar, based on current floor prices.

Exporting Transaction History

Another key request was ticked off the list in March as platform users can now export their transaction history to a CSV file, for personal records and/or tax. This is available through the Web Wallet, and after logging in you can access the feature by selecting ‘transactions’ and then ‘export CSV.’

VeVe Collectors can now export their transaction history in the Web Wallet

VeVe Sponsors Elite Comics

The world of digital comic NFTs is still a very new one, and there is no better way to introduce this comic book product than by supporting the physical comic world!

In March VeVe sponsored the Elite Comics Virtual Comic Con event, featuring 5 days of massive online sales, celebrity guests, charity auctions, and giveaways.

Big thank you to Elite Comics for inviting us take part, and of course to Comics and Crypto for helping to bring it all together! If you don’t already follow Elite Comics check them out on Twitter and Instagram today!

In addition to sponsoring this event, VeVe CEO David Yu also joined the team from Elite Comics, Old Rhubarb from VeVe in 3, and our friends at Comics and Crypto for this incredible interview.

Check it out below if you haven’t seen it yet, and of course please give the video a thumbs up, drop a comment to show your support, and subscribe to their channels if you enjoy their content. 👍

VeVe Discord Updates

A BIG welcome to native speaking Dutch and Turkish communities, who now have a dedicated language channel in the VeVe discord server, and a huge thanks to all of our tireless volunteers and moderators who are always available to welcome more members to the Fam! 🇳🇱 🇹🇷

We have also recently added a new channel called ‘Get-Help’ in an effort to streamline communications between the community and the team, to help you find resolutions in a much more timely manner.

The new get-help channel is your go-to place to Ask for Help, Report suspected bot users (with evidence), and Check with Support on tickets that have not been answered for more than 7 days (must have an existing support ticket).

Please check out this announcement post for more details on the channel, and how you can best utilise the tools available to get the assistance you require!

OMI Updates

OMI is now Listed on BitMart!

Our latest token listing went live mid-March thanks to our most recent exchange partner- BitMart. Averaging over $2 billion in daily trading volume from more than 800 coin pairs, this listing introduces OMI to BitMart’s community of more than 9 million+ registered users, ~50% of which are in North America (yes, BitMart does allow US customers!), and ~25% in the APAC region.

Trading of ERC20 OMI token opened on March 11, and is available now listed against USDT.

OMI Token Bridge

Since the token migration was completed in early February, the next question on everyones lips has been ‘wen bridge.’ While we have been waiting on some new tools to be built on Immutable X, we are happy to report that the bridging site is now live and undergoing thorough testing.

This will allow OMI holders to deposit their tokens onto Layer 2, which can then be sent to your in-app OMI wallets (to use in the VeVe app) and/or withdraw them back to layer 1 (to store in personal wallets or on exchanges).

This bridge is expected to be live for public use mid-April, and we will release walkthrough instructions on how to use it when it is ready to go!

OMI Is Live on the Immutable Marketplace

One of the true benefits of being on Ethereum Layer 2 is the interoperability of tokens themselves, and we are happy to report that the OMI token can now be used as a payment token on the Immutable X marketplace!

We expect to see further integrations with NFT marketplaces built on Immutable so keep an eye out for ongoing utility and token access on that front too! ❌⭕️❌⭕️

Gokhshtein Media

In March Rhys joined a community spotlight with the one and only Akil Patterson from the the budding empire that is Gokhshtein Media 💪

Focusing more fully on the OMI token and it’s role in the ECOMI ecosystem and VeVe app, the pair discussed the current state of the token, and paint a picture for its future!

OMI Utility Program + Co-founder AMA

As mentioned in the co-founders most recent video update, version 2 of the OMI utility program (OUP) and development of OMI features and functionality within the app is slated to begin in Q2.

As always we look forward to collecting your feedback as we continue to deliver the best possible digital collectibles experience for all involved!

We will continue to bring you monthly video updates with the co-founders to cover off all the ‘big-ticket’ items and ecosystem developments, and in between you can find Alex and Rhys holding things down with a bi-weekly AMA on VeVe Twitter Spaces or in the VeVe Discord Server.
