October kicked off with one of the biggest pop-culture events of the year as we teamed up with Marvel at New York Comic-Con to show off the exclusive Marvel Mightys digital collectibles on the VeVe app. We also celebrated some spooky Halloween releases, wished VeVe a happy second birthday, and received the NZ Business Award for Extraordinary Growth in Emerging Business.

New York Comic-Con

Following up on our appearance at San Diego Comic-Con earlier this year, the VeVe team once again took to the skies and converged in New York for an absolutely incredible event at NYCC, exhibiting alongside marquee licensing partner Marvel.

On display were the Marvel Mightys- a line of collectibles available exclusively on the VeVe app- alongside a host of limited edition Marvel digital collectibles, comics, giveaways and con-exclusive drops throughout the weekend.

Fans and collectors at the event were also the first to hear about the release of Spider-Man: Miles Morales which was released shortly after the event and has since gone on to become one of the most prized collectibles on the app.

If you missed any of the action from NYCC we’ve dropped some highlights below, and want to extend a huge thank you to everyone in the Fam that came out to the event, it was truly one to remember!

While at the event VeVe was also featured in Marvel’s on the floor series with Agent M for a roundup of all of the Marvel digital collectible action on offer, and in CoinDesk’s event breakdown and the impact of web3 in a space that has always been about physical products.

At NYCC we also saw the first cross-over between the VeVe and Marvel Insider communities, with a range of limited edition prizes now up for grabs each week/month for platform members. The first available prize was the Marvel Mightys Red Skull, and new digital collectible rewards have been offered each week since the event.

Of course, the #VeVeFam meetup tradition also continued in New York, and a big thank you goes out to Mr. MC1 for organizing such a fun night out. The fam braved the New York City cold for a real meet-and-greet, and we look forward to sharing more incredible experiences with you all in the years to come. If you missed any of the events across the weekend you can catch up on it all in this special edition of Happy Hour.

The New Zealand Business Awards 🏆

Years of hard work culminated in some incredible recognition in October as VeVe co-founders Dan and David were presented with the New Zealand Business Award for ‘Extraordinary Growth in Emerging Business.’

This award is shared by the entire team and of course, the VeVe Fam, who have all contributed to the rapid growth and success of the platform, and its impact on this nascent industry.

VeVe Drops

Spider Man: Miles Morales

Emerging from a universe in need of a new Spider-Man, Brooklyn teen Miles Morales rose to the challenge. Splitting his time between fighting crime and managing his teenage personal life, Miles has to hide his identity from his parents, but confides in his best friend Ganke and other trustworthy members of the Super Hero community.

In October Miles Morales was released in 3 premium models, with one of them even turning invisible! If you missed it, you can catch all the drop details here.

USPS: Mariachi Stamp Art

Mariachi celebrates the unique traditional music of Mexico that has become deeply rooted in the United States and beyond. Each of the five stamps released featured a musician dressed in “traje de charro,” the traditional outfit of mariachi performers, playing one of five iconic mariachi instruments: guitar, “guitarrón,” “vihuela,” violin, and trumpet.

VeVe collectors will notice that each stamp came with SFX and played an individual piece of music based on the instrument in the stamp, and when placed together in showrooms played a complete Mariachi tune!

Creatures of Jim Henson’s Labyrinth

The world of the Labyrinth is home to many imaginative creatures, big and small. This collection of 3D digital collectible statues features some of the most unique and beloved characters from the classic film which featured David Bowie and Jennifer Connelly.

Back to the Future Part II

The most spectacular time-travel adventure ever continues in Back to the Future Part II — the sequel that proves that lightning can strike twice! This interactive digital collectible DeLorean Time Machine can be scaled 1:1 (to the size of a real DeLorean Time Machine) and comes complete with hover conversion folding wheels and the Mr. Fusion Home Energy Reactor.

This particular DeLorean Time Machine is also the first-ever flying vehicle to be released on VeVe, so if you haven’t dropped your DeLorean Time Machine into augmented reality yet what are you waiting for?! Flying lessons are open!

VeVe Halloween

The spookiest month of the year didn’t disappoint on VeVe with a whole host of Halloween-themed releases. We kicked the week off with some Dcon artist drops and rounded out with the First Appearance of Chucky- the notorious killer doll with the demonic smile.

As with a number of VeVe drops recently- some releases also gifted collectors with additional (free!) airdrops!

In case you missed any of them you can get all the details below and complete your sets in the VeVe market- just be sure to take extra special care when walking around corners in your VeVe Showrooms 🎃

VeVe Halloween Giveaway

Everybody loves a giveaway, and there was plenty to take part in across October. Staying on theme with Halloween VeVe ran a dress-up competition encouraging people to dress up and pose with their favorite VeVe digital collectibles.

Congratulations to all of our winners who took home a VeVe digital collectible prize! We look forward to sharing more fun events and giveaways in the future, and you can catch them all on our giveaways page.

VeVe Turns Two! 🍰

October marks the two-year anniversary of the first-ever digital collectible release on VeVe, AKA the Todd, and the beginning of season 5 on the platform.

In the past two years, VeVe has truly taken this industry by storm, with more than 7.5 million NFTs sold from an ever-growing list of license partners, and digital collectible types and categories, including:

  • Premium 3D models and figurines
  • 2D posters, artworks, and prints
  • Exclusive 1/1 works and artist proofs
  • Driveable (and flyable!) collectible cars and vehicles
  • Collectible stamp art
  • Fully readable digital collectible comic books
  • Interactive and animated collectibles, often with sound effects and special utilities

In that time we have also built and released the VeVe web app, opening access to the platform to a larger variety of users, and enabling a host of new features to be built and released.

We want to take a moment to extend our sincerest thanks to everyone who has contributed to this journey so far, and we look forward to continuing to push this industry, and the capabilities of our digital collectibles, forward in the years to come!

Watch to Burn OMI 👀

The ECOMI Fam continues to find new and innovative ways to burn the OMI token supply, and in October we saw the first mention of ‘Watch-to-Burn,’ an initiative kicked off by VeVeMeister that has since been joined by Foster Hilt and MillionnaireOmi.

Watch to burn uses the advertising revenue paid out by Youtube (or other streaming services) to burn OMI tokens from circulating supply, and anyone with a channel can choose to participate, while anyone with eyeballs can contribute!

All you need to do as a viewer is help our content creators to increase their views (and therefore the revenue generated) and you’ll be contributing to permanently burning OMI tokens.

Big thank you to everyone in the ECOMI Fam who actively contributes to these initiatives. Now that the OMI Token Portal is live you can find all of these details and more on our community partnerships page!

OMI Play to Earn

Our friends at Epiko Regal ran their first official OMI prize tournament in October, and a huge congratulations go to all of the players who took part. The winners shared a pool of more than 1.5 million OMI tokens, which also saw the first OMI token burns from Epiko Regal gameplay!

If you haven’t seen it yet Epiko Regal offers play-to-earn and play-to-burn mechanics, which you can learn more about in the OMI Token Portal. The team will continue to run play-to-earn tournaments using OMI tokens so be sure to follow them on socials so you don’t miss the next one!

Cannon Crisis and Move Up 2D also paid out some OMI prizes in October, while removing more tokens from circulation at the same time. If you haven’t checked out either one yet you can find their profiles here.

We also suggest that you keep an eye out on Curtis’s social feeds to see how you can take part in his latest initiative- using solar energy to burn OMI from the circulating supply! More details to come in future updates. ☀️

Community Conversations and AMAs

There is no better way to celebrate all of the amazing news and developments around our ecosystem than with the Fam, and in October we saw the team drop in on a tonne of channels and conversations.

Kicking things off as always with the most recent co-founders update, we also saw David Yu drop in for a chat with the Spanish community, Rhys getting to know Blake and Chad, Al Kahn stopping by the Queen's Court, and Alex host Gary Baseman on a special pre-drop edition of Don’t AMA.

To stay up to date with the next ECOMI AMA’s please follow/bookmark the OMI Token Portal. We will continue to keep the portal updated so you know when/where you can reach the team and have your questions answered!

#ICYMI:

The first stage of the VeVe metadata link also went live at the beginning of the month, linking your VeVe digital collectibles and comics to Immutable’s blockchain explorer.

This allows you to view your collectible information, images, mint numbers, edition sizes, and more ‘on-chain’ and in your wallets. If you haven’t seen it yet or would like more information about this link check out the update article on the VeVe Blog.

As always there is a plethora of amazing community content, and in October the VeVe team joined the king of livestreams- Mr. Randy Chavez- in his 69 hour stream. Big thank you to everyone who joined us throughout the event, and everyone in the Fam who kept the conversations moving until the very end!

Below we’ve shared a couple of other amazing pieces of content you may have missed, and want to extend a huge thank you to everyone in the Fam who continues to contribute to the success of ECOMI, VeVe, our community, and the future of digital collecting 🙏
