It was a month of first appearances and phygital crossovers! VeVe and Marvel collaborated with luxury designer Christian Louboutin and collectible heavyweight Funko to bring their creative works to the platform. As if that wasn’t enough, we also dropped the first physical VeVe comic-cover variants, digital comics from Ron English, a brand new art style for our premium collectibles, and, of course- celebrated New York Comic Con!

VeVe X New York Comic Con

The VeVe Fam was out in force as we returned to Javits Center in October, celebrating all things Comic Con with Marvel!

VeVe x Marvel

VeVe returned to New York Comic Con as the official NFT partner of Marvel, showing off the exclusive Marvel Mightys collectibles and enjoying a host of Marvel-themed collectible releases throughout the weekend.

Kicking off with the release of the X-Men: 60 Uncanny Years Poster, it was quickly followed by one of the most iconic comics in the world- Uncanny X-Men (1963) #1, which minted 10,000 editions and sold out instantly.

Collectors also got their hands on premium 3D models of Kingpin, Professor X, and Magneto, becoming the first collectibles on the platform to feature cel-shading.

VeVe’s first-ever Marvel physical variant covers were also available to purchase as an NYCC booth exclusive, giving fans access to The Superior Spider-Man Returns (2023) #1.

The VeVe variants feature art from Mike McCone and Israel Silva, and collectors could choose the standard and/or virgin variants. Many were quick to be signed, graded, and sealed to commemorate this incredible occasion 💙

VeVe x Marvel x Funko

It wouldn’t be NYCC without some surprises. In a first-of-its-kind partnership, VeVe teamed up with Marvel and Funko to release a phygital bundle (physical collectible with a VeVe digital collectible counterpart) as part of the Funko Gold line of merchandise, in celebration of 60 Years of Iron Man.

Releasing on October 18, 2023, the collection featured Marvel’s Iron Man as a towering 18” comic-inspired Funko Gold physical figure with a matching and limited edition digital collectible figure on VeVe included with every purchase.

“Our approach to collectibles is centered on creating new ways for fans to show off their most treasured IPs…Being able to be a part of Marvel’s celebration of Iron Man through this collaboration with VeVe is the perfect way to show Funko’s commitment to collectability and ability to bring fandoms to fans in all forms.”

— Steve Nave, Funko Chief Financial Officer and Chief Operating Officer

With 3000 physical editions selling out in ~48 hours and the first time digital collectible edition numbers #1–15 have been available on the platform, these premium vinyl collectibles will no doubt bring smiles to VeVe Collectors for many years to come.

Fifty lucky buyers also landed the secret rare ‘chase’ collectible, featuring Iron Man in the black and gold suit.

“Our collaboration with both Funko and Marvel allows VeVe to transcend digital barriers by offering a physical counterpart to our highly coveted digital collectibles. Funko’s pedigree in the collectibles space shows how to constantly engage fans in a way that makes each experience unique and we look forward to bringing the Iron Man character to life in an all-new way.”

— David Yu, VeVe co-founder and CEO

VeVe x Ron English

Marvel digital comics weren’t the only comic release at NYCC, with a mind-bending comic coming from Ron English — Big Top Popaganda!

This limited edition, fully readable digital comic dropped with two variant covers contains the origin story of MC Supersized and Orion the Obese Alien. It includes Kursed Kids, iconic parody ads, and bonus content: The Rabbbits Origin Story!

Fans also had a chance to meet Ron at NYCC and VeVe’s opening party, with his life-sized POPaganda artworks adding to the event's decor, and took home some Ron English merch for their troubles!

VeVe x ZQ Studios — The Addiction

Doctor Niki Tino is the heroine of a new comic book that debuted at New York Comic Con (NYCC).

The Addiction is VeVe’s first foray into offering an original VeVe variant print comic, along with a digital version. With two physical cover variants (available only at NYCC) and five digital variants of the cover, The Addiction has quickly become a fan favorite, and we extend a big welcome to the whole ZQ Studios team!

The comic is co-created by Vincent Zurzolo, president of Metropolis Collectibles and ComicConnect, and David Quinn, the comic book writer behind such titles as Faust and Marvel’s Doctor Strange: Sorcerer Supreme. It’s drawn by Claudia Balboni, the Italian comic book artist and Eisner Award nominee for “Killer Queens” (Dark Horse).

If you don’t already, we strongly recommend you follow VeVe socials to join us from home at future events and, of course, to be among the first to hear our drop announcements and event plans in the future.

VeVe x tokidoki

The first brand ever to be announced on VeVe made a triumphant return at NYCC with the release of Tokimondo.

tokidoki is an internationally recognized and iconic lifestyle brand based on the vision of Italian artist Simone Legno and his partners, serial entrepreneurs Pooneh Mohajer and Ivan Arnold. Since debuting in 2005, tokidoki has amassed a cult-like following for its larger-than-life characters and emerged as a sought-after global lifestyle brand.

A special gold Kaiju was also released as a Toy Tokyo exclusive at NYCC! If you missed the drop, some items are still available in the VeVe store, but you’d better be quick!

Christian Louboutin and Marvel Limited-Edition Digital Collectible

NYCC wasn’t the only hot topic in October, with fashion designer Christian Louboutin teaming up with Marvel to offer a more exclusive phygital combo based on the iconic Sea Warrior shoes.

To claim the NFT, Loubiton fans must make a qualifying physical purchase in participating stores. They will then receive a redemption code, which can be claimed on the VeVe web app.

Celebrating VeVe Digital Comic Artists

A community-run competition gave comic fans and collectors some amazing conversations with VeVe cover artists in a month of appreciation for VeVe digital comic NFTs.

Two categories were available for the best cover and favorite artist on the platform, and the VeVe team weighed in with some of the Fam to announce the results. Congratulations to all the artists on the platform, our winners, and the 101- PoP team for creating such an awesome initiative. If you missed it, you can catch up on it below!

Congratulations Are in Order!
