If you’ve been part of the ECOMI fam for a while you’ll know that in 2018 we welcomed some seasoned advisors to the team. In doing so, we pivoted our business structure and the underlying blockchain to one that was more secure, cheaper to operate and better for the environment- GoChain!

The OMI token- the native token of the ECOMI ecosystem- will be released as a GO20 token. As such, we wanted to make sure you understood how to create a GoChain Wallet, so you can participate in the upcoming public sale, and keep your precious OMI tokens safe until they’re available to store on the Secure Wallet.

The GoChain wallet interface

Why Do I Need a GoChain Wallet?

You need a GoChain wallet for one of two primary reasons.

  1. To ensure you receive your OMI tokens after the token generation event. Note: this is only applicable if you were a participant in the original crowdsale or the private sale.
  2. To ensure the security of your tokens. The OMI token is being offered to the public through an initial exchange offering (details to be announced soon).

Although the exchange itself will provide a wallet for you to receive your tokens, this is also the most insecure way to store your digital assets.

Creating your own GoChain wallet will allow you to move your tokens off the exchange once you have participated in the public sale. As you are probably aware by now- if you don’t own your private keys you don’t own your tokens! Hit this link to learn more about private keys and hot/cold storage options.

How Do I Create a GoChain Wallet?

Although other hardware wallets may support the GoChain network, not all of them will have support for GO20 tokens, such as the OMI token, and accessing/recovering your tokens may be difficult.

We want to make it clear that you must use a wallet that you own the private keys for. It is your responsibility to ensure that it is compatible, and if you have any questions you can reach me directly on Telegram.

If you have never set up a wallet before, or are unsure if yours will support the OMI GO20 token, please see the following instructions to set up a GoChain Wallet.

  1. Open an incognito window on Google Chrome, Firefox or Brave browser. This will ensure no extensions can read your private key.
  2. Visit https://explorer.gochain.io/wallet
Please double check that you have the legitimate website, check the spelling etc…
Note: if you search ‘GoChain Wallet’ in your browser the first result is GoChainwallet.com. Whilst this wallet may work, it is a community built wallet, and not the legitimate GoChain Wallet.
In the issue of safety (and to make sure there are no issues receiving your tokens) we recommend using the legitimate GoChain Wallet.
  3. Hit ‘Create Account’ to get started.
  4. This will generate your private key. Please be sure to note it down somewhere safe, as you will need it each time you access your Go Wallet.
  5. Save your private key. We would recommend printing paper wallets with the private key on them, and storing them in a very safe place!
  6. That’s it! You now have a GoChain Wallet, and can send and receive tokens at your public address. It is the public key you must provide to ECOMI to receive your OMI tokens safely and on time.

To access your wallet in the future, simply hit the ‘open wallet’ tab as indicated in the image below. You will need to enter your private key to unlock the wallet.

Sending and Receiving Go Tokens

While we’re here, you may as well become more familiar with the way the GoChain Wallet works. Once you have created your wallet and stored your private keys, you can send/receive Go tokens to this address.

To receive Go tokens, either provide the public key to the person/entity sending you tokens or copy and paste it into the ‘to/recipient address’ field to send from your own accounts.

Owing to the speed of the GoChain network, receiving tokens should happen in a matter of seconds, and your balance will be updated accordingly (see the red arrow in the image below).

To send your Go tokens, simply hit the ‘SEND GO’ option and scroll down to enter the recipient address (in this case the ‘to’ field), the amount of Go you want to send, and the gas limit. The wallet will already calculate this for you based on network congestion, however, it is usually only a fraction of a cent.

Once you hit send, the transaction will be confirmed and you’ll be given a transaction I.D/hash, so you can track and confirm it on the network.

***PLEASE REMEMBER: your private key is for your eyes only! Do not send it to us, do not let anybody see it, and know that we will never ask for it! ***

Sending Go is easy with the GoChain Wallet
