First of all, congratulations on acquiring the coveted and amazing Secure Wallet! If you haven’t received yours yet, don’t panic! We have just started shipping to some of the earliest contributors, and yours will be in the post soon!
Although the process of setting up and pairing is intuitive and simple, we have created some simple instructions to help you in case you get stuck. So let’s get into it, and make sure you can secure your crypto investments in the shortest amount of time possible.
1. Download the ECOMI app
The ECOMI app is your interface with the Secure Wallet. You MUST download it and use it to use the Secure Wallet. You download and install it in exactly the same way you would install other smartphone applications, and can either search for ECOMI in your app store, or hit these links:
2. Pair With Your Smartphone
Once you have the app installed, you need to pair the Secure Wallet with your smartphone. Start by switching ON your bluetooth, and then follow these steps:
- Open the ECOMI app, and turn on the Secure Wallet. To do this, hold the red button for a couple of seconds (you will hear it click), and then the screen will flash with ‘Hello’
- The app will then detect your Secure Wallet (pictured left below), and its serial number will be listed. Click ‘connect’ to begin pairing. In the event that you have more than one Secure Wallet, the serial number can be found on the back of the hardware device.
- After a few seconds, the ECOMI app will then ask you to ‘press the card button to finish pairing.’ The screen on the Secure Wallet will also ask you to press the button at this stage. Press the same button you used to turn the card on (just don’t hold it down) to complete the process, and you will see the screen below (right):
3. Create Your New Accounts
Now that you have successfully paired your smartphone and the hardware device, click ‘create’ to begin creating your accounts.
The ECOMI app will then display your ‘seed’ or recovery phrase. This is a series of 12 number combinations, and you must ensure you write down this seed correctly and store it somewhere safe! We recommend keeping record of it in more than one place, just incase. You received a seed recovery booklet in the packaging with your Secure Wallet, to help you do so.
4. Verify Your Seed
You will need the seed to access your accounts in the event you lose your phone, your Secure Wallet, or both. You will also need it to restore your balances after a firmware update, for example, when a new token is added to the Secure Wallet.
Because of the seed’s importance, you will be required to to confirm you have written it down correctly, and verify it by entering it on the next screen, before you can continue.
Once you have verified your seed, the e-paper screen on the Secure Wallet will confirm that you have paired the device, and the app will begin creating your accounts. This process usually happens quickly, but can take anywhere between 1 and 3 minutes. That’s it!
The ECOMI app will tell you when the process has been successful, and you will then be taken to the home screen. From here you can send and receive tokens, check balances, get a first-look demo of ECOMI Collect’s augmented reality feature, pair additional devices and access support and updates.
