Weekly Wrap Up- August 22

Years of planning and months of development work have come to fruition in the past two weeks as Blind Boxes and Digital Comics are now live on VeVe! This monumental step forward for both VeVe and the NFT industry at large has created an entirely new digital asset class, and brand new ways for fans to collect their favorite digital assets.

Blind Boxes

VeVe Blind Boxes have created an entirely new way to collect, giving everyone equal opportunity to nab an ultra-rare or secret rare collectible! The update, which rolled out on the platform on the 12th, allows you to participate in a ‘blind’ or surprise release, where the edition number and collectible you’ve acquired will be a complete surprise until the purchase process is complete.

The first Blind Box release to hit the platform was Marvel Mightys Series 1- the first-ever release of this brand both on VeVe and in the wider Marvel Universe. The release saw more than 90,000 collectibles sell within 15 minutes as everyone scrambled to try and collect the UR Red Skull. It was also the first appearance of Steve Rogers, Sam Wilson, John F. Walker, and Bucky Barnes as Captain America.

Digital Comics

In a world-first, VeVe has become the only platform to release premium license digital comic NFTs. This is a truly monumental step for both the comic book and NFT industries, modernizing one of the most collectible fandom expressions, and allowing fans and collectors to own some of the rarest and most sought-after comics that have ever existed.

The update, which hit VeVe on the 18th of August, also rolled out in Blind Box format, with 5 variant covers available per comic, ranging from common through to secret-rare.

The first-ever digital comic NFT releases on VeVe were an incredible success, starting with the OG- Marvel Comics #1. This comic was first released in 1939, back when the company was known as Timely Comics and has gone onto become one of the rarest and most valuable comic books in existence.

Marvel Comics #1 was followed by Journey Into Mystery #85- the first appearance of Loki- and the weekend wrapped up with Fantastic Four #1- the first appearance of the super-hero collective, all of which sold out within minutes.

We want to extend our sincerest thanks to the fam for helping us to celebrate the release of this brand new digital product line. With this release (and many more to come) we continue to push the bounds of the NFT industry, and celebrate the ongoing expansion of our digital collectibles platform 🥳
