My background as an economist and why becoming a Data Scientist is so damn important.
I’m not sure where to start, because I started about two years ago. My life has taken many different turns since I made the decision to become a Data Scientist.
As my title speaks, I am not currently a Data Scientist, nor do I have the skills to be one. I do, however, have the skills to become one. This blog/journal/diary/notebook will be my journey, for better and worse. I will take notes, copy/paste code, and probably look back on my posts and be disgusted with myself. Either way, I wanted to get a first post out here explaining who I am, and maybe comment and tell me where I’d be a good fit, if anywhere…
I am a 25 year old male, I like to think I blend in with society, but then again who even thinks about that..? I have lived outside of the USA for two years, strictly surfing in various countries in Central America and Europe. I am now working full time as a Marine Electronics Technician, part time as a bouncer at a bar, and I own my own company. My company is a traveling surf school and I have two employees. We do okay, but it is not what I want to do for the rest of my life.
Here, I will take you on my journey starting today (I have some prior coding experience through Python courses online, and with my job). The notebook will start with my first Bootcamp notes and submissions.
I have spoken with various people, friends, analysts, random LinkedIn members, etc. and have come to the conclusion that my time spent in a Master’s program would not be worth the outcome, and I have opted to take a bootcamp course. I am currently deciding between Springboard’s 6-month online program, and Metis’s 12-week intensive course. If you have comments, please leave them below.
