Chris Mihal interview at the Type Directors Club.

Chris Mihal is the Design Director of Barron’s, overseeing art, photography and design across all brands in New York. He was previously the Creative Director for Variety. After studying journalism graphics at Ball State University, he worked at newspapers in Phoenix, Fort Lauderdale, Atlanta
and the Northeast, working on numerous redesigns and rebrands in editorial, marketing and advertising.

During the ECV New York Workshop 2018, we had the opportunity to meet him at the Type Directors Club. He presented to us his work for Variety
and Barron’s. After his presentation, the workshop consisted in creating
a new cover and some interior pages of a special issue for the Variety Magazine : the launch of the Season 3 of David Lynch’s series Twin Peaks. Chris gave us some advices about editorial design and how to make an attractive cover and layout.
