Babies don’t always play fair

Anybody who’s spent some time with toddlers knows they like to share. But there’s a limit. If there’s not enough to go around, they’ll stop being fair, choosing to give to friends instead of strangers. This holds with our adult idiom, “charity begins at home.” Given enough resources, we’re willing to distribute equitably. With a shortage, we prioritize our friends and family.
