2. Advertising: On Wednesday, Google, the world’s largest online advertiser, announced a ban on crypto currency-related advertising starting June 2018 (already Facebook has banned it). Bitcoin fell below $8,000 that day (please note that by the time you read this the price maybe quite different). Some supporters of digital currencies still contend such bands have no impact on price.

On the positive side, blockchain is building communities..

3. National voting: This week Sierra Leone, Africa became the first country to use blockchain for voting. The country used a blockchain solution developed by a Switzerland based voting technology company, Agora to tally and provide proof of the recently held elections in the country. Read more.

4. Neighborly voting: On March 15, Moscow, also, announced some voting news. Russia’s capital launched Digital Home which uses Active Citizen, an electronic voting platform, that runs on a private version of ethereum. It will allow neighbors in high rises to electronically vote and communicate on issues like whether to replace the building entrance door.

5. ICOs for Social Good: In the US, the City of Berkley, California is partnering with the University of California Berkley’s Blockchain Lab and a Fintech company, Neighboring, to create an initial coin offering (ICO) to raise funds for the city. Money will go towards things such as affordable housing, homeless shelter and other improvements for social good.

6. Sex: Playboy, also, announced its involvement in the cryptocurrency movement this week. On Wednesday, Playboy Enterprises announced it was developing an online payment wallet that will support several crypto payment types, including Bitcoin and Ethereum and the Vice Industry token.
