Vilnius is cool, Vilnius is fun and cheap. I travel all the time as one of those, hmm digital nomads, but come back to Vilnius every summer (yes, brace yourself, winter is fucked up here). Buy Ryanair, Wizzair or other cheap air and get your ass to Lithuania. Hipsterish and beautiful, Vilnius is a cosy city to chill or party for a weekend or longer. Flights are short from anywhere in Europe and prices are way lower in Vilnius when compared London etc.

This article is work in progress!! I’m just starting to collect stuff for you to see/visit/try.

#VilniusChill

1st Day in Vilnius — There is always 1st time for something

Land in small and modern airport, get out in 15min or less and call an Uber. With Uber to downtown will take 10min without traffic.

Old town

Breakfast and coffee

After checking in start your tour from coffee — Taste Map coffee shop has the best coffee in town. They have 2 locations — my favorite is inside Rise Vilnius coworking by Barclays for fin-tech startups. Sip on some delish fresh brew and observe a dynamic fin-tech hub.

Sightseeing in the City Center

Right next to Taste Map in Rise Vilnius you have Lithuanian government, National library with some cool art expositions and a former Lukiskiu jail with an old church inside of it. Go check the out!

Lunch or Brunch?

Lunch time! For the best burgers in town, go to Drama Burger in Gediminas avenue. Which is also on a way to the old city, where we will be heading for the some fun:

Lithuanian History

Take Gediminas avenue down to the Cathedral, Palace of the Grand Dukes of Lithuania and Gediminas castle tower. Take some selfies here — they say that the hill on which the tower is built is falling down, so you should hurry up!

Afternoon coffee

After hiking Gediminas castle hill you should relax a little. Go check out Strange Love coffee shop afterwards. They make cocktails too…

Street art in Užupis

For art, inspiration and free spirit visit Užupio Respublika district. They have declared independence from the rest of city, thus it’s called The Užupio Republic. You have to at least read their constitution in one of it’s tiny streets.

Dinner options

Bars

In summer check out Piano Man Outside terrace:

Cocktails

Clubbing

2nd Day

Hangover brunch

Chill and longboard in Vingis Park

Or cur hangover cures in one of the cafes located in Vingio parkas ;)

Art Museums

Contemporary Art Centre (CAC or ŠMC in Lithuanian) Vilnius is the place to visit for, well, modern art. Their Fluxus Cabinet is the only permanent exposition in CAC Vilnius. Opened in 1997 it has the largest collection of Fluxus works in the world with 100 original artworks.
