Welcome to Scytl’s EDGE, a blog about elections in the digital era.

Scytl has been leading the digital transformation of the electoral industry for over 20 years. We pride ourselves not only on our secure and innovative technology, but also on our team of election experts, researchers, and scientists. For this reason, we’ve launched EDGE — a Research & Security blog aimed at giving a voice to the specialists behind the scenes at Scytl who make our pioneering election solutions possible.

That said, this blog isn’t just a space for cybersecurity nerds and cryptography geeks (though they are more than welcome!). Rather, our aim is to create a platform that is accessible to everyone, regardless of tech knowledge or expertise.

We started simple:

What is internet voting? Where is it used? And how else can technology be used throughout the electoral cycle?

Since then, we’ve worked our way up to some bigger questions.

We’ve discussed misinformation, accessible democracy, and future trends. We chatted about sustainability, quantum cryptopgraphy, and how election technology is used around the world.

Through this, we aim to offer a space for education, inspiration, and innovation, always looking to propel democracy forward.

How does it work?

Each article we publish is aimed at fulfilling one of three purposes: to educate, to inspire, and to innovate.

• Educate articles are designed to offer simple, easy-to-grasp explanations regarding the intersection of elections and technology. They minimize jargon and get to the point.
• Inspire articles focus on the future of democracy. They reveal how the modern digital era influences how we think about, and participate in, elections and electoral processes.
• Innovate articles are catered slightly more to our “Crypto Crowd.” They dig deep into the nitty-gritty of how we can use election technology to provide electoral security, privacy, and transparency.

The articles are tagged and labelled according to their purpose, and added to the corresponding feature page, accessible through the navigation bar.
