2025 Will Be Another Year of Empty Promises and Climate Theater
The world’s leaders just walked away from the Paris Agreement.
While the world, and particularly the United States, was glued to the slow-motion car wreck that is wannabe king Donald Trump and shadow president Musk dismantling what remains of the federal government, something else slipped by — something that should have been headline news, but barely registered as a blip in the cacophony of political dysfunction.
On February 10, nearly every single nation on Earth missed the deadline to submit their updated climate plans under the Paris Agreement.
That’s not an exaggeration — 95% of countries simply didn’t bother. The Agreement, once hailed as humanity’s last hope for staving off ecological collapse, has now become little more than an exercise in bureaucratic make-believe.
The world set a goal — keep warming below 1.5°C. That goal is now out the window, as we broke the 1.5°C limit in 2024.
The world set a process — update and strengthen national plans every five years. Now, with catastrophic climate tipping points looming closer, the process is being abandoned in broad daylight.
Yet the sheer audacity of this failure barely made headlines. Because, let’s be honest…
