Surviving the Climate Apocalypse (With a Little Help From My Friends)

A community is thankful in the midst of collapse.

A lot of preppers, doomers, survivalists — whatever you want to call them — are convinced they’ve got it all figured out. They’ve stockpiled enough beans, bullets, and Band-Aids (looking at you James Wesley Rawles) to weather the next zombie apocalypse. They picture a world reduced to chaos, Mad Max-style, where only the most rugged, well-armed individualists survive. But they’ve got it all wrong.

The apocalypse is coming, all right, but not in the way they think. It won’t be some cinematic explosion of nuclear arms or a pandemic that wipes out 99% of the population.

The truth? It’s going to be much worse — and much, much more mundane.

The end won’t come with a bang but with an agonizing, drawn-out whimper. It’ll look like food shortages, unaffordable housing, skyrocketing energy costs, and entire regions becoming uninhabitable. It’ll be parents choosing between groceries and rent, retirees going back to work, and a generation of children inheriting a world that no longer makes sense.

The cruel reality is that this apocalypse will be economic, social, and environmental — all at once. It’s not the kind of disaster you can…
