While the New York Mets didn’t have a great year this year, we have to talk about something related to the Mets, so why not review Citi Field?

Citi Field is in Flushing, Queens and is the home of the New York Mets. This stadium was established in 2008 after the Mets left Shea Stadium in the same year.

You could find the Shea Stadium home plate in the parking lot of Citi Field. I’ve been there so many times and still haven’t tried to look for the plate though.

Citi Field is one of many stadiums that is starting to look more modern. After Steve Cohen bought the franchise back in 2020, he added many great features to the stadium.

The most prominent feature and favorite is the new and improved scoreboard in centerfield. The scoreboard is 17,400 square feet on the front, and 6,900 square feet on the back. This makes the Citi Field scoreboard the biggest scoreboard by far.

Other minor things were added, like different food options, a Tom Seaver statue outside of the stadium, and new number retirements such as Keith Hernandez, Jerry Koosman, and Willie Mays.

The only other major change to Citi Field is the right field wall dimensions.

At the end of the 2022 season, Steve Cohen announced he wanted to move the right field fence 8 feet in so that they could add a new “fan experience” in right field.

The “fan experience” is only open to fans willing and able to pay $25,000 to sit in the front row and around $19,000 to sit anywhere else. There are indoor seats, a bar, and TVs to watch a game that is literally right in front of you. I guess if you’re rich and just want money to blow, this is a fantastic way to do it.

Citi Field is known locally for its amazing food options, and now there’s more.

Food Network star Sunny Anderson debuted her very own place called Sunny’s All-American Kitchen. There are many great food options here such as fried potatoes, parfaits, and mac and cheese. This place gets great reviews from Mets fans, so be sure to check it out when 2024 rolls around.

The last place I ate when I went to Citi Field was Chiddy’s Cheesesteaks food truck, the best place to get a cheesesteak in Citi Field. I loved their signature sandwich. It comes with onions, mushrooms, peppers, provolone, and cheese whiz.

I don’t want to get too caught up in talking about food but know that there’s something for everyone here at Citi Field.

The main reason you came to Citi Field was probably to watch a baseball game, and I gotta say this is one of my favorite stadiums to watch a game even though I’ve been to 10 other stadiums.

The crowd is lively and NY fans aren’t afraid to boo if the Mets are doing bad, but you get used to it after a while.

There’s a great view of the field from wherever you sit. My favorite spot is by the first base side because it’s the side where I grew up sitting. But I’ve also sat in many other spots and I’ve only had an issue in one, left field.

I had an interesting experience in the left field area in Citi Field with a lot of screaming and heckling. Many people enjoy that kind of lively crowd, but that wasn’t for me.

Citi Field is an amazing stadium to watch a game in. It has many unique features, great food, and a great fan base and is an amazing place to watch a game.

Hopefully, when the Mets get good again, Citi Field will be as lively as it used to be.
