Edge Video today unveils its powerful strategic partnership with NEAR Foundation. As Edge continues its rollout of its AI-powered suite of interactivity and gamification tools for content, this partnership with NEAR Foundation will help accelerate the advent of better TV and bring it closer than ever before.

Edge is building a community out of the 24,000+ FAST (‘Free Ad Supported TV’) channels that currently exist. These channels have great viewership, but poor revenue. Edge is a value-add for broadcasters by placing a QR code over their content that any viewer can scan to enter the Edge ecosystem, and enjoy their on-chain rewards for doing so. Edge’s proprietary AI scans content in real-time to provide Shoppable TV and gaming through a second screen delivering an interactive streaming experience.

NEAR Protocol is one of the most well established L1s in the market. NEAR uses sharding to aggressively solve the scalability trilemma and provide a community-run cloud computing platform whose pace far outstrips that of rival L1s reliant on more ancient tech. NEAR empowers devs to build app-specific blockchains that can be scaled using NEAR’s chain-abstraction stack. High throughput, low fee, and proof of stake — NEAR is onboarding developer teams everywhere into the wonder of on-chain economies, and Edge is proud to have their strategic and tactical support as the rate of expansion of Edge’s ecosystem increases.

Together, Edge and NEAR are charting valuable new use-cases for blockchain economies and how they can shape our modern lives. In Edge’s case, what’s better than free TV? How about earning rewards just by watching your favorite shows, or getting hold of the exact products you see with just a few clicks, or being involved with a community of viewers all over the world. Sounds farfetched but, with Near’s help and investment, it’s much nearer than you think. In fact, with Edge Video, the layer 2 of TV is here right now.
