In previous articles, I have talked about the possible future of education. Today I want to discuss ways of transforming modern university education.
To attract new students and workers, higher education establishments need to adopt innovative methods of providing training materials. They need to be concentrate on configurable courses and practicing outside of educational institutions.

The last report from the Education Design Lab presents several models for educational establishments to remain relevant in a sphere of education that keeps going online.

Five years in the development, the report provides detailed information on the innovative models: the experiential curator, platform facilitator, workforce, and learning certified.

University managers can pass a test to determine which option is the most suitable for their establishment to satisfy the evolving needs of advanced education.

Instead of just changing the provision model or releasing innovative programs and supports, we decided to help the universities realize the rate of job market developments and student requirements as we are on the verge of AI-enabled education,” claim the authors of the report.

Four innovative models of modern university education

To keep pace with the new generation of students and make such that their alumni will be attractive applicants for employment, universities have to revise their approach to the training. Below you can find four models the education establishments will introduce shortly:

  1. Experiential curator: Establishment introducing such a model will benefit from improved data analytics instruments and videoconferencing to broaden the range of their academic services. Experiential curators will use “progress in the evaluation, the establishment of Internet and hybrid formation and the increasingly networked world to ensure, assess, and certify transformative transition experiences outside the universities.”
  2. Platform facilitator: From Internet content to meal orders, the new generation has got used to configurable consumption, and training can follow their steps. Individual education establishments can start to propose a Netflix-type spread of training materials, while others will serve as “information suppliers for such platforms, licensing courses, documents, and other services,” has appeared from the report. Lots of university managers view the idea of creating artificial intelligence-enabled programs to spread training videos.
  3. Workforce integrator: This approach allows us to develop a partnership to develop training programs and provide out-of-school activities, where learners can establish contact with prospective employers. Such collaborations can make such that students leave the university with the skills necessary to fill the posts specifically areas.
  4. Learning certifier: Colleges adopting this model will combine innovative technology with information panels where pupils can accumulate experience by gamifying the academic system, according to the report. Experiences outside the classroom environment, which include out-of-school activities and pieces of training, can be gathered and pointed out in the dashboard. It will give prospective employers evidence of students’ training experience that could make them comprehensively competent workers.

Edgecoin is an excellent example of how can these dashboards look likes. It’s a web-based solution that allows creating, manage, and issue credentials. The stored information is protected and always available. The entire academic and professional career of every student and later employee will be recorded on the blockchain by smart contracts. They contain all of the skills, qualifications, certificates, and also job records.
