This year, learning technology will deal with social transform, more effective utilization of resources and better infrastructure.

If you want to make forecasts about technology (including learning technology), it is better, to begin with, sci-fi. Writers may not always look beyond the horizon; however, designers and developers often use the authors’ works as a source of inspiration for building a future.

The most famous sci-fi author, Isaac Asimov, also worked as a biochemistry professor. The author wrote with near perfect precision that computers would inevitably penetrate our life and become an integral part of it.

However, forecasts for innovative technology fail when they indicate that the technique substitutes human interaction instead of reshaping and transforming it. Thus, speaking of the modern learning technology, Asimov notices certain demographic shifts — but no practical, individual adaptation of techniques for the schoolroom.

Technology in education continuously changes and improves pedagogy. It opens the way for new learning projects and creates innovative approaches to accomplish the main goals for the next study year.

Below are the main trends in technology and education to consider:

1. Cloud-based technology

This year, cloud computing will keep transforming learning into a more organized experience for students. Compositions, drafts, work schedules, and tasks will be shared merely and safely stored on the cloud (for example, Google Docs).

With more streamlined resource storage, cloud-based technology will help teachers to expand their reach and share data without an increase in expenses or further time trouble.

2. VR and AR (virtual and augmented reality)

SMT will give educators the instruments for providing advanced training experiences via virtual and augmented reality. With the appearance of more accessible VR facilities, users can expect a lot more from this technique next year. The number of unpaid applications and learning platforms intended for virtual training is increasing. Virtual and augmented reality will shift from experimental to comprehensive education.

3. STEAM — arts and STEM

There has been a strong educational emphasis to enhance the computer literacy of students, and inspire more pupils to adopt technological subjects over recent years. Based on the latest study on the use of technology in education, STEM classes are considered as the most technologically developed of the CV. Though, more conventional arts and humanities disciplines are regarded as catching up in the application of edtech.

4. Innovative methods to avert bullying

Given the proliferation of social networks and mobile devices, it’s a bitter truth that Internet bullying is becoming more widespread. Whereas technology is a factor contributing to the offensive behavior, it will move on to provide more effective solutions to the problem next year.

Edtech will be actively used in 2019 to control the learners’ technology, monitor the use of their search query, along with the entire browser history. Additional applications will help educators and SMTs to monitor any of their pupils’ devices distantly. Other programs will be applied straight to the students’ devices to control the voice tone, geolocations, keyword search, and social network activities, to get a general idea of a kid’s mood.

5. Mobile-style education

Nowadays, most students have their own mobile devices. The use of this technology for education will enhance interaction and strength of motivation in all cognitive abilities. Moreover, online learning will ensure higher flexibility and availability for homeschooling. Connecting online technologies and mobile devices with the audiences will help educators to provide an exciting and comprehensive training experience for all educational styles and facilities.

Conventional interactive boards are getting too difficult to scale or too expensive to replace, while SMTs are moving on to more resilient to change and updatable technologies.

Advances and developments in technology among companies and enterprises provide SMTs with more conventional instruments and more optimal forms of edtech to enhance their school achievements and improve their teachers’ pedagogical methods. Meanwhile, modern educators are getting crafty about their edtech, seeking ways to use technology for differentiated training and greater interaction.
