New York, NY — April 23, 2018 Edgemesh, the Smart Peering pioneer that is decentralizing the Internet, has today launched Edgemesh 2.0, the second generation of its adaptive, decentralized edge delivery system that is revolutionizing the way content is distributed and secured across the internet. Edgemesh 2.0 further enables customers to decrease dependency on centralized, expensive and constrained legacy content delivery networks (CDN) and cloud networks, offloading content to the adaptive Smart Peer network via Edgemesh’s proprietary edge routing design.

“Smart Peering will bring about fundamental changes in how we look at content distribution, particularly as 5G, increased livestreaming, and the expected flood of IoT devices put pressure on networks,” says Craig Matsumoto, Senior Analyst, 451 Research. “To be able to scale to handle the sheer volume, we need new ways to use the infrastructure we have, as traditional pathways will no longer provide the speed and reliability we have come to expect. Taking content distribution to the final edge of the network could help overcome these hurdles, freeing up bandwidth and ensuring companies can provide the best user experience for their customers.”

“Edgemesh is extending the reach of enterprise content strategies to the true edge of the network and as a consequence, is reshaping how business thinks about bandwidth costs, content control and network latency,” says Jacob Loveless, CEO, Edgemesh.

Edgemesh 2.0 enables smart routing of assets, including high definition video, and uses its adaptive routing technology to adjust to internet and edge network conditions in real time. It extends the cache capabilities from Edgemesh 1.7, to include the entire customer website. This includes third-party scripts, which are pre-cached and validated to optimize latency, and identify errors or malware hidden in code. This is facilitated via Edgemesh Smart Secure, a deep static analysis and vulnerability engine, that ensures the integrity of application content each time that content is cached on the Smart Peer network. If the content has been altered, Edgemesh will automatically identify the modified assets and populate the content from the secure customer origin — giving security operations a 360-degree view into the integrity of every request delivered to a customer’s device.

“Edgemesh 2.0 allows for online, adaptive and intelligent content sourcing for the ever-increasing Edgemesh network, now operating on over 12% of the global Internet, numbering 7,380 networks and counting,” says Randy Lebeau, CTO, Edgemesh. “Edgemesh 2.0 was the most significant engineering challenge we have undertaken to date, and it paid off, delivering a nearly three-fold increase in average traffic offload rates, saving customers up to 90% in bandwidth fees, and increasing page performance by nearly ten times. On top of that, Edgemesh itself is now 70% smaller, ten times faster and significantly more flexible than anything on the market today or on the horizon.”

Other significant updates to Edgemesh 2.0 include:

- Intelligent and transparent sourcing of video content, allowing for instant video on demand

- Client-side caches are managed on the end-user browser, extending the reach of a customer’s content strategy to the final edge of the network while maintaining compliance with new data privacy regulations such as the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR)

- Maximization of the local cache for every visitor, significantly increasing page performance while simultaneously decreasing legacy bandwidth costs

- Third-party references are followed and cached locally, translating into performance improvements as much as seven times faster, for customers with large-scale sites

- Smart Peering means fewer connections reach origin servers (or traditional CDN servers), dramatically reducing client size

Edgemesh 2.0 is currently in use across more than 180 content providers and is installed via a single line of code. To sign up visit www.edgemesh.com.

About Edgemesh

Edgemesh is decentralizing the Internet by making content delivery fast, diversified and low cost using Smart Peering. Smart Peering is a secure and proven method that disseminates content via nearby peer networks, to significantly reduce bandwidth costs and enhance customer experience. Edgemesh accelerates web performance and enables companies to improve latency and overcome the critical legacy challenges of the Internet including how to scale to support billions of interconnected devices. By exchanging content directly between users, Edgemesh has proven to dramatically cut page load time up to ten times, decrease bandwidth fees up to 90% and enable businesses to seamlessly distribute their content globally, all with no necessary infrastructure changes and using just a single line of code. Edgemesh was launched in 2017 and is headquartered in New York, NY.
