SoundCloud Champions Creative Tools Through Strategic Partnership
The use of artificial intelligence (AI) in music creation has moved firmly into the mainstream. Major platforms are now actively supporting and partnering with AI music tools to help expand artists’ creative horizons.
YouTube took an early step in this direction last November with its DreamTrack experiment. This feature allows creators to produce music videos featuring the AI-generated vocals of popular artists like Charlie Puth and John Legend.
SoundCloud is also embracing AI music tools through new integrations. The platform recently announced partnerships with three AI startup companies — Fadr, Soundful, and Voice-Swap. These partnerships will allow artists to directly upload songs created with AI assistance to their SoundCloud profiles.
SoundCloud stated this move aims to further empower creators on the platform. At the same time, the company is implementing safeguards like blocking AI bots from mining its catalog without permission. This should help address copyright issues as AI music capabilities continue advancing rapidly.
The partner tools offer different creative applications of AI. Fadr provides remix and extraction tools, while Soundful allows generating original songs quickly via an interface guided by music theory. Voice-Swap transforms vocals to match licensed artist styles.
Artists can access these tools independently and then seamlessly upload AI-assisted tracks to SoundCloud through a built-in option. The platform will flag any uploads that used AI to provide transparency. Profiles can also edit tracks post-upload for further refinement.
