An overview of EdTech in Romania
Still in its very early stage of development, the EdTech Romanian community is slowly taking shape. We have gathered 50+ of the existing initiatives, to offer an insight into the ecosystem.
E-learning / High-school
iziBac — a mobile app focused on facilitating the learning process for the final high-school exams; it uses gamification and rewards;
eMedi — an educational platform for high-school students who want to prepare for the final high-school exam (bacalaureat);
Prepi — a smart solution that helps students achieve good results at the final high-school exam (bacalaureat) by learning efficiently.
E-learning / School
Mykoolio — an online educational platform that serves as a teaching assistant; it includes 630 interactive lessons and 7500 Romanian math and language exercises for 1-VIII grade students;
Intuitext —the educational products developed by INTUITEXT are adapted to the learning needs of the new generations of students, transforming abstract notions and theoretical information into attractive multimedia content;
Asq — a free alternative teaching method through digital classes, focused on self-learning;
Examenul tau —an educational product developed for the training of secondary school students in both Romanian language and mathematics, it focuses on homework and tests, as well as the 8th grade National Assessment exam;
123edu — a new flexible platform for practicing school subjects, adapted to the requirements of the Romanian education system, for the 0 to 4th grades;
Invat Online — an online platform developed as a response to the new requirements for isolation that lets teachers upload content, that’s easy to access for children; (Republic of Moldova)
Eumeo — an online platform dedicated to learning math;
Vreau La — a platform to get ready for the admission exams for free;
Edu CRED — a portal for teachers who want to use the new technologies during teaching activities with their students, taking advantage of the experience and the results obtained so far in the CRED project;
Digital Edu — a platform with ideas for learning activities for students, that aims to contribute to the improvement of education with the help of technology;
Reteaua Edu— e-learning community for primary and secondary education in Romania;
PB info — an online platform to teach informatics to high school students;
Scoala din valiza — an online platform that offers access to both open educational resources as well as a space dedicated to learning, for school, teachers and students;
E-learning / Other
iTeach — an online platform for the continuous professional development of the teaching staff by encouraging participation and exchange of resources, facilitating collaboration, training of pedagogical and specialized skills;
Hypersay — a Learn Forward product, developed as a tool for teachers, lecturers, and conference speakers to enhance PowerPoint files and engage audiences using real-time interactions;
Mondly — language learning experiences that will stimulate people around the world to learn new languages not only out of necessity, but because they genuinely enjoy it;
StudHub —a platform focused on improving the process of finding and distributing study materials among students; after creating an account, they can browse and also add materials to the platform;
Startarium — an entrepreneurship online learning tool, that gives access to experienced mentors and inspiring stories;
Tactile Images — a tool built for visually impaired (and blind) people, that gives them the option of learning by themselves; it can also be used by children with autism, can help Alzheimer patients remember things, and many more;
Digitaliada — a national program that supports digital education for secondary schools;
Bit Benefit — an online platform with lessons for children that includes subjects such as programming, foreign languages and personal development;
History Lapse — a natural and easy way to learn history;
Education Cloud — free tool to learn digital marketing, created by expert marketers from squirrly.co;
Coding a story — a concept that aims to teach children coding through stories.
E-learning / Games
CleverEver — a mobile app where kids can explore mysterious worlds and learn school curricula through games;
Codifun — a platform to learn & play programming & entrepreneurship through fun & games;
Kidibot — encourages children to read and learn, through gamification, positive enforcement and other tactics;
Questo App — an app that lets people learn about a city by offering walking tours in the form of games;
Auttie App — a tool that empowers the parents of children with ASD or other learning difficulties to carry specialized therapy at home;
NextEdu — an electronics learning resource; it focuses on emphasizing children creativity and encourages them to become creators of technology, instead of only consumers;
Dacobots —a portal focused to prepare and educate the new generation in a modern way, taking into account the technological evolution and the native passion for digital technology children have;
Quantum Odyssey — Large scale video game that shows the power of quantum computing in interstellar space;
Simbound — a simulation game for learning digital marketing.
Education management
Kinderpedia — provides technology based solutions that turns every classroom into a vibrant connected community where teachers and parents engage to improve education, to the benefit of children;
Scoala pe Net — a platform developed as a reaction to the measures imposed in Romania, in the light of Coronavirus pandemic; it offers a collection of advice and tools for the Romanian teachers, to help them continue the educational process while schools are closed;
Adservio — a digital platform dedicated to integrate all parties into a one-stop shop cloud solution, capable of organizing and centralizing all school information, turning them into easy-to-use assets for parents, teachers, departments of education and governmental bodies;
24edu — education management solution that doubles as a digital school catalog, aimed at teachers, parents and students;
Galileo — a platform that connects experienced freelance teachers with students from around the world;
Collabos — a portal that provides freedom and stability to experienced professionals and education to those who want to learn — on one side — and complete transparency, fast turnaround, real-time monitoring to those who need stuff done (any type of work that can be done remotely) — on the other;
Livresq —owned by Ascendia, LIVRESQ is an integrated platform for creating, publishing, editing, consulting and managing online digital interactive books;
HEdu Guide — a support platform for future students coming to study in Romania, that helps them through the application process and takes over all the formalities involved;
Invata Online — a solution to manage online trainings;
Learning Solutions — a software that makes it incredibly easy to upload training materials and store them all in one dedicated place where students can learn without distractions.; developed by squirlly.co;
Notis — education management platform for primary, secondary and high schools;
Education management / HR
Nifty learning — a solution that brings operational intelligence to corporate training departments; the platform automates admin tasks and provides real-time insights to learning coordinators so they can focus on strategic work;
Coursedot — a marketplace for IT training courses, it helps organizations find and book seats for their employees in training courses at the right time, location, and price;
Youkno — an AI solution that harnesses the power of Knowledge, AI and Recognition to boost productivity and user engagement levels;
Date a Startup — an educational platform that hacks the ways young people start their career and the way companies act towards millennials; it’s focused on three areas: an internships’ platform for startup, a mentorship program for students and bootcamps of organisational culture for startups;
Evrika IT — an intensive program with consistent technical and soft skills courses & workshops, that creates tailored graduates, thus helping companies to get the most of their job candidates.
Code of Talent — a platform that helps participants turn knowing into doing through gamification, social learning and facilitator feedback.
Personal development
ExposureVR — Virtual Reality Exposure Therapy used as an alternative solution to treat phobias; it’s mostly oriented on the fear of public speaking, and designed to be accessible for everyone;
Pamble — developed by Wolfpack Digital, Pamble is a companion app offering an integrated approach to enforce responsible gambling; the app is designed as a 12-week program helping with self-education and practice, cognitive restructuring, offering various tools for maintaining results;
Hey, Be Well! — a platform that helps well-being specialists create and sell courses in a more interactive and intuitive way;
Flow done —an app that allows users create categories they are interested in developing, like studying or working out, and filming themselves giving a motivational speech, which they can use after for self-motivation;
Nummo Kid — a Romanian speech therapy app that helps children and adults with cochlear implants to decode the heard messages;
EGO — an AI equipped personal assistant, created as an extension of one’s memory for monitoring and processing health information related to nutrition and sports activity submitted;
Tully — a wearable device helping children learn how to control themselves and cope with emotional flares and diminished attention problem;
Parenting
Parentool — a mobile app that aggregates psycho-educational content for parents based on their behavior types and the development phase of their child;
Arttachment — an app (in the making) for parents of children in their early years that brings together current research and theory about child development, attachment and brain science with fun creative activities to do with children;
Sensa —a study that investigates maternal emotions during pregnancy and baby’s development in the first six months after birth; the study is carried out by a team of psychologists and doctors from Babeș-Bolyai University and the “Iuliu Haţieganu” University of Medicine and Pharmacy of Cluj-Napoca and is funded by a research grant from the Executive Unit for Financing Higher Education, Research, Development and Innovation (UEFISCDI).

Happy Kid — an app that brings in the same place everything that parents need for their children: ideas for spending time together, education, services, online and offline shops, etc;
KultourKid — a platform for parents with information and guides for a children appropriate cultural experience while traveling.
Other
Brio —a platform for evaluation, analysis and tracking school performance and psychological development using digital tools based on modern technologies and models;
Invata singur — online self testing for primary and secondary education in Romania;
Evaluare interactiva — a platform for free schooling, school competitions and educational resources;
Povesti de la Domnita — an audio collection of the most known stories for children; (Republic of Moldova)
Narada — a matchmaking platform that brings together public education teachers’ initiatives and private businesses who want to get involved with their funding.
