Build the Future of Education

4,672 sign-ups, 725 BUIDLs… EDU Chain Hackathon Semester 1 ended with a bang!

Semester 1 hackathon might have ended, but we’d love to see you keep building. Introducing: EDU Chain Micro-Grant Program.

We are looking to distribute $100–1,000 / project to EDU builders who #buildinpublic. Exceptional projects may receive additional financial and non-financial support after the program.

This initiative is designed to support innovative projects building or looking to build on EDU Chain. Ideal for those who want to:

  • Explore whether EDU Chain is their project’s ‘home’.
  • Get a jump start on the Semester 2 hackathon.
  • Take their existing Semester 1 hackathon project to the next level.

If this is you, apply now!

What can I get from the program?

  • Funding: Grants ranging from $100 to $1,000.
  • Mentorship: Access to mentors and industry leaders from Animoca Brands, Open Campus, HackQuest, RiseIn and more.
  • Resources: Early access to the most updated docs, tools, and resources on EDU Chain.
  • Community: Join a private group of EDU Chain innovators and grant recipients.

How do I apply?

Step 1: Apply. Submit your application by September 28, 2024

Step 2: Review. Expect a response regarding your application by October 6, 2024. We will review applications on a rolling basis.

Step 3: Approval. Successful applicants will be notified and receive the initial 30% of funding.

Step 4: #BuildinPublic. Recipients are encouraged to share their progress publicly and provide weekly updates to the team.

Step 5: Funding. Remaining funds will be distributed by the end of the program if the recipients meet the requirements.

Step 6: Incubation. Top builders in the program will be contacted for additional support.

What do you ask for in exchange?

  • Build in Public: Post a thread or write a short blog about the progress you have made on the project each week.
  • Engage with Us: Communicate project progress with our team via text / email / telegram / discord / video call / in-person, which ever way you would prefer!

I got more questions!

Q: Who can apply for the EDU Chain Micro-Grant?

A: Anyone :)

Q: What can I use the money for?

A: Anything that contributes to your project success!

Q: What types of projects are eligible?

A: Projects that improve access to education, streamline administrative processes, or enhance learning outcomes using blockchain technology.

Q: We have multiple people on the team, can we each apply for a grant?

A: Grants are counted by project but by individual. If you are working on multiple projects, you may be eligible for more, given that you have capacity to work on multiple projects simultaneously and consistently.

Q: How much funding can I receive?

A: Micro-grants range from $100 to $1,000 / team. Additional financial and non-financial support will also be provided for those who stand out from the program. If you have a very established project, you may consider applying to join OC-I or OC-X.

Q: How are projects evaluated?

A: Proposals are evaluated based on their potential impact, feasibility, and alignment with program goals.

Q: Is there a deadline to apply?

A: Yes, by September 28th end of the day! Move fast because we will be reviewing applications on a rolling-basis.

Q: When will I get the grant?

A: We will reach out to you via email (check your spam!) on a rolling basis now through October 6th. We are planning to pick 20–25 teams / week.
