What is Yuzu?

Yuzu is the onchain points system within the EDU Chain ecosystem.

Yuzu are non-transferable and can only be earned or burned.

Yuzu holders can spend Yuzu Points to unlock $EDU rewards, with up to 150 million EDU tokens allocated for mainnet rewards.

However, this is NOT an airdrop campaign.

Instead, we aim to reward active contributors and encourage ongoing participation across the entire dApp ecosystem with EDULand NFTs.

You can earn Yuzu in five primary ways:

  1. Engage with dApps on EDU Chain with a Yuzu allocation
  2. Stake EDU tokens
  3. Bridge tokens over to EDU Chain mainnet
  4. Convert Legacy OC Points to Yuzu Points
  5. Refer people to EDU Chain

Let’s dive in to more details on how to earn Yuzu and then we’ll discuss how you can spend Yuzu to unlock $EDU rewards with EDULand NFTs.

1. Yuzu Distribution for DApps

Yuzu Points are distributed seasonally to dApps, with each season having its own allocation.

Yuzu: First Harvest will reward dApps who contribute to the growth of EDU Chain mainnet, recognizing teams that support the EDU Chain ecosystem from day one.

DApps deployed on mainnet will receive a baseline allocation of Yuzu Points when the campaign begins.

Additional Yuzu Points will be distributed based on key performance milestones at the end of the campaign period. There may also be mid-season Yuzu drops for qualifying dApps.

The performance milestones include enhancing Total Value Locked (TVL), increasing unique active wallets, promoting $EDU staking, incentivzing users to bridge tokens to mainnet and integrating with core products like OC Achievements on Open Campus ID.

DApps have flexibility in how they distribute their Yuzu allocation to users based on the activities they want to incentivize. However, they must distribute at least 90% of the allocation to dApp users, while the remaining 10% can go to either the dApp team or additional user incentives.

As a dApp, you will need to provide us with a template like this at the end of the campaign that lists each user’s wallet address and how many Yuzu Points they have earned.

All dApps will distribute points directly to users’ EVM compatible wallets at the end of the Yuzu: First Harvest campaign.

Stay updated via our X and Discord for more information on upcoming distributions.

Breakdown of Yuzu Distribution

DApps receive 50% of the total Yuzu supply allocated for the Yuzu: First Harvest campaign. This allocation is divided into two parts:

  • Baseline allocation, distributed immediately upon deployment on EDU Chain mainnet
  • OC achievements allocation, distributed after reaching OC achievement milestones

The baseline allocation varies based on your dApp’s category and performance throughout the testnet campaign.

A message to dApp builders on EDU Chain

Yuzu aims to enhance dApp development by allowing dApps to reward users with Yuzu Points.

DApps must distribute at least 90% of their Yuzu allocation to users, while reserving up to 10% for either team rewards or additional user incentives.

Rules for Yuzu distribution may be updated as circumstances evolve.

Teams that act maliciously or irresponsibly will lose their Yuzu allocation.

2. Stake $EDU to Earn Yuzu

You can also stake $EDU to earn Yuzu on EDU Chain.

To stake $EDU, head to the EDU staking page and enter the amount you want to stake.

You will earn 0.05 Yuzu Point per day for every 1 EDU staked.

There is no minimum or maximum stake, but here are some examples of Yuzu Points emissions over different time periods:

$EDU can only be staked on EDU Chain mainnet.

To bridge $EDU to the mainnet from Arbitrum One, you can use the Arbitrum bridge.

Yuzu Points earned from staking EDU will be distributed to stakers’ wallets at the end of the Yuzu: First Harvest Campaign.

3. Bridge assets to EDU Chain mainnet to earn Yuzu

Bridging assets to EDU Chain mainnet is a great way to earn Yuzu Points.

Simply bridge eligible tokens to the mainnet using any of the available bridges (Arbitrum, Gelato, or EDU Chain bridge) to qualify for Yuzu bridging rewards.

Bridging rewards are calculated by allocating a fixed pool of Yuzu Points proportionally based on each user’s contribution to the Total Value Locked (TVL) over the campaign period.

The more tokens you bridge relative to the total bridged amount, the higher percentage of the Yuzu Points pool you’ll receive, ensuring fair distribution based on individual participation.

Bridging rewards will be distributed at the end of the Yuzu: First Harvest campaign period.

You can track all bridging activity and points accrued on the Yuzu dashboard.

Eligible Tokens for Bridging

You can bridge the following tokens to earn Yuzu Points:

  • EDU
  • WEDU (wrapped EDU)
  • USDC
  • USDT
  • ETH

4. Yuzu Claim for OC Points Holders

OC Points are off-chain rewards points that incentivize Open Campus ecosystem contributors. Users have earned these points through the Questing platform on Open Campus ID (OC ID) and our testnet campaign.

The OC Points Testnet Campaign has now concluded, with no further points being issued until future campaigns are announced.

Holders of OC Points from both Questing and Testnet campaigns can convert them to Yuzu on January 23rd at https://yuzu.educhain.xyz/claim

The Yuzu to OC Points conversion rate varies between Questing and Testnet OC Points — it will not be a 1:1 conversion for either source.

Wallet Binding for Questing OC Points

If you earned OC Points through Questing, you must complete this step.

Testnet participants can skip it.

To be eligible to convert your OC Points earned from Questing on Jan 23, do the following:

  1. Visit the Open Campus ID dashboard and bind your wallet.

2. Make sure to do this before the cutoff date, Jan 22 at 11:59pm UTC. If you don’t, you’ll have to wait until the next claim event, which could be a month or more away.

3. On Jan 23, you will then be able to see the total Yuzu available to claim and initiate the claims process at yuzu.educhain.xyz/claim

Don’t worry if you miss the cutoff date. Simply bind your wallet and you’ll be able to claim your Yuzu Points during the next Yuzu claim period.

5. Yuzu Referral Program

Earn extra rewards by inviting others to EDU Chain through our referral program.

When someone uses your referral link, you’ll earn 10% of the Yuzu Points they receive from staking $EDU, using dApps, and bridging assets.

For example, if your referral earns 100 Yuzu Points from staking EDU, you’ll receive 10 Yuzu Points.

Referrals and rewards are currently active for staking and dApp usage. Bridging referral rewards will be available soon.

Get your link and track your referrals and rewards on the Yuzu dashboard.

EDULand NFTs, what are they and how do you get them?

EDULand NFTs are available to rent on Jan 27th.

EDULand NFT holders have the right to operate a node to verify transactions on EDU Chain and earn rewards in return.

You won’t need specific hardware or software to run EDU Chain nodes. We have partnered with EaseFlow, a node-as-a-service provider, offering a one-click solution for EDULand NFT holders to operate EDU Chain nodes.

To maintain the right to validate transactions and earn rewards as an EDULand NFT holder, you must pay ongoing rent in Yuzu Points.

How does renting EDULand NFTs work?

To rent an EDULand NFT, users pay an initial rental fee in Yuzu Points based on a bonding curve.

Users select their rental duration and must pay both the initial rental fee and all maintenance costs upfront.

For instance, a 60 day rental requires payment of the initial rental fee plus 60-days of maintenance.

EDULand NFTs are non-transferable and managed through a smart contract for security.

You can extend your rental period anytime, up to a maximum duration of 60 days, and will be required to pay both the initial rental fee and the maintenance cost again.

When your EDULand NFT rental expires, you’ll lose access and the NFT will return to the marketplace.

The rental price for EDULand NFTs uses a dynamic model based on the total rental time (in seconds) across all NFTs, divided by total supply.

This creates a pricing system that flexes with overall demand.

EDULand NFT Rewards

Each month, EDULand NFT holders will receive:

  1. A share of the sequencer fees from transactions verified by your EDULand node operation.
  2. Additional $EDU tokens from a designated EDULand holders rewards pool, with up to 150 million EDU tokens paid out over 3 years.

Total EDULand NFT Supply: 10,000
Total Rewards over 3 years: 150,000,000 EDU
Baseline Yield per EDULand NFT, per month (assuming 100% utilization rate of the supply and $EDU is at $0.55): $136.33

The EDULand emission rates per node are variable and will change over time based on the utilization rate of EDULand NFTs, the market price of EDU, and the total amount of EDU in the monthly rewards pool.

Note: You must be actively verifying transactions on EDU Chain to receive rewards.

KYC for Rewards Claim

To claim your rewards, you must complete KYC verification using the same wallet that holds your EDULand NFT before your rental period ends.

Follow the prompts on the EDULand NFT rental page to complete your KYC.

If you don’t complete KYC before your rental period ends, you may forfeit any rewards accumulated during your rental period.

What happens when your rental period comes to an end?

After your rental ends, you can either extend your lease or stop.

If you stop, you can claim your earned rewards, but you’ll lose your EDULand NFT holder status and the NFT will return to the market.

While you can buy back later, you’ll need to pay both the initial rental fee and maintenance fees again.
