Season 1 Recap: Progress and Lessons Learned

Yuzu Season 1 was an important phase for EDU Chain. We saw significant growth, high engagement, and strong demand for node rentals and ecosystem rewards. As the system developed, we identified areas for improvement.

Key Takeaways from Season 1:

  • EDU Chain achieved $150M in TVL, processed more than 80M transactions, reached 9M EDU staked, and engaged over 420,000 unique wallets on the network.
  • EDULand nodes sold out almost instantly, making it difficult for new participants to secure one.
  • Over 150M Yuzu were earned, serving as a key incentive for dApp adoption and staking.
  • Due to high Yuzu emissions, nodes were hard to rent, which created an imbalance between supply and demand.

These results demonstrated EDU Chain’s potential. We’re now implementing updates to improve sustainability, fairness, and user experience for the long term.

What is Yuzu?

How to Earn Yuzu on EDU Chain

You might be new here, so before we go any further here’s a reminder on the Yuzu basics.

Yuzu is the onchain points system within the EDU Chain ecosystem.

Yuzu are non-transferable and can only be earned or burned.

Yuzu holders can spend Yuzu Points to unlock $EDU rewards, with up to 150 million EDU tokens allocated for mainnet rewards.

You can earn Yuzu in four primary ways:

  1. Engage with dApps on EDU Chain with a Yuzu allocation
  2. Stake EDU tokens
  3. Bridge tokens over to EDU Chain mainnet
  4. Refer people to EDU Chain

Let’s dive in to more details on how to earn Yuzu and then we’ll discuss how you can spend Yuzu to unlock $EDU rewards with EDULand NFTs.

1. Yuzu: Spring Bloom Distribution for DApps

Yuzu Points are distributed seasonally to dApps, with each season having its own allocation.

Compared to the Yuzu: First Harvest campaign, we’ve made several adjustments which we’ll outline below.

In Yuzu: Spring Bloom, every dApp live on EDU Chain mainnet will receive a baseline allocation. We have also added boosters for dApps that have integrated Open Campus ID and for newcomers to the ecosystem. Here’s a quick overview:

  • 21.67M Yuzu has been allocated for dApp baseline allocation in the Spring Bloom campaign.
  • Every dApp has a guaranteed allocation of 504,000 Yuzu.
  • The Open Campus ID integration provides a 200% boost to baseline Yuzu.
  • The newcomer boost provides a 150% boost to baseline Yuzu allocation.
  • Dapps that are both new and have integrated Open Campus ID receive a 300% boost to baseline Yuzu allocation.

Note: Some dApps will carry over their unspent Yuzu allocation from the First Harvest campaign into the Spring Bloom campaign, increasing their total allocation. Please note there will not be an option to roll over any allocation from the Yuzu Spring Bloom campaign.

DApp Allocation Breakdown

Breakdown of Yuzu Distribution

Midseason Performance-Based Yuzu Drops

Beyond the baseline allocation, all dApps have the opportunity to earn midseason drops of Yuzu based on their performance.

There will be two pools of Yuzu Points for midseason drops: one for DeFi applications and one for non-DeFi applications.

For both groups, midseason drops will be calculated by looking at onchain user metrics for each dApp.

Benefits of this system:

  • Balances fairness (baseline) with performance incentives
  • Rewards effort and growth, not just size
  • Focuses on key growth metrics (example metrics include: TVL, UAWs, transactions)
  • Encourages ecosystem-wide growth and competitiveness

Stay tuned throughout the season for information about midseason drops.

T’s & C’s

DApps have flexibility in how they distribute their Yuzu allocation to users based on the activities they want to incentivize. However, they must distribute at least 90% of the allocation to dApp users, while the remaining 10% can go to either the dApp team or additional user incentives.

As a dApp, you will need to provide us with a template like this at the end of the campaign that lists each user’s wallet address and how many Yuzu Points they have earned.

After receiving all data from the dApps, we will update the claim page where users can claim their Yuzu Points at the end of the Yuzu: Spring Bloom Campaign.

Note that some dApps from the First Harvest campaign will not receive any allocation for Spring Bloom due to inactivity and unresponsiveness to our communications. This decision is to ensure Yuzu is distributed only to dApps actively contributing to the chain.

Head to our ecosystem page to start exploring dApps with Yuzu allocation.

2. Stake $EDU to Earn Yuzu

You can also stake $EDU to earn Yuzu on EDU Chain.

To stake $EDU, head to the EDU staking page and enter the amount you want to stake.

We’ve made some updates here too by increasing the staking rewards by 2x, here’s how it will work for the Yuzu: Spring Bloom campaign.

You will earn 0.1 Yuzu Point per day for every 1 EDU staked.

There is no minimum or maximum stake, but here are some examples of Yuzu Points emissions over different time periods:

$EDU can only be staked on EDU Chain mainnet.

To bridge $EDU to the mainnet from Arbitrum One, you can use the Arbitrum bridge.

Yuzu Points earned from staking EDU will be distributed to stakers’ wallets at the end of the Yuzu: Spring Bloom Campaign.

3. Bridge assets to EDU Chain mainnet to earn Yuzu

Bridging assets to EDU Chain mainnet is a great way to earn Yuzu Points.

Simply bridge eligible tokens to the mainnet using any of the available bridges (Arbitrum, Gelato, Sailfish or EDU Chain bridge) to qualify for Yuzu bridging rewards.

If you hold $EDU on BNB Chain, the simplest way to bridge is by using the Sailfish bridge. This allows you to transfer from BSC to EDU Chain in just two transactions, requiring gas fees only on BSC.

Bridging rewards are calculated by allocating a fixed pool of Yuzu Points proportionally based on each user’s contribution to the Total Value Locked (TVL) over the campaign period.

The more tokens you bridge relative to the total bridged amount, the higher percentage of the Yuzu Points pool you’ll receive, ensuring fair distribution based on individual participation.

Bridging rewards will be distributed at the end of the Yuzu: First Harvest campaign period.

Eligible Tokens for Bridging

You can bridge the following tokens to earn Yuzu Points:

  • EDU
  • WEDU (wrapped EDU)
  • USDC
  • USDT
  • ETH

4. Yuzu Referral Program

Earn extra rewards by inviting others to EDU Chain through our referral program.

When someone uses your referral link, you’ll earn 10% of the Yuzu Points they receive from staking $EDU and bridging assets.

For example, if your referral earns 100 Yuzu Points from staking EDU, you’ll receive 10 Yuzu Points.

Please note that there is a maximum cap on the Yuzu that can be earned from each referral per season and will be determined based on total referrals.

Get your link and track your referrals and rewards on the Yuzu dashboard.

EDULand NFTs, what‘s new?

For a full breakdown on how EDULand NFTs work. Check out our previous Medium post.

But, here’s what’s new for the Yuzu Spring Bloom campaign.

1. Rental Pricing Adjustments

We are keeping the same pricing model for EDULand NFTs from the previous season at the start of the Spring Bloom Campaign.

However, expect a new pricing model to launch during the season that will increase sustainable access, balanced Yuzu emissions, and a more efficient EDULand NFT rental economy.

2. Rental Duration & UI Updates

Many users rented for short periods and later had to pay full price again to extend, causing unnecessary spending and frustration.

What’s changing?

  • Max rental duration reduced to 30 days (previously 60 days).
  • The default rental duration in the UI will now be set to the maximum available time (instead of 1 day).

3. Simplifying the KYC Process

We’re making improvements to the KYC process to enhance user experience, speed, and compliance.

  • Streamlined verification to reduce delays and friction.
  • More automation to speed up approvals.

4. Dynamic EDU Emissions

EDULand NFT emissions will be dynamic throughout the season and may change at any time.

We will adjust the emission rate based on market dynamics by continuously monitoring the EDU token price, EDULand NFT utilization rate, and onchain metrics such as TVL, UAWs, and total transactions.

5. Easeflow Node-as-a-Service provider

We continue our partnership with EaseFlow, a node-as-a-service provider that offers a one-click solution for EDULand NFT holders to operate EDU Chain nodes.

This season, we will again subsidize the node operation costs with EaseFlow, allowing EDULand NFT holders to run their nodes at no charge.

Congratulations on making it through our complete guide to the Yuzu: Spring Bloom campaign!

FAQ

If I rent a new EDULand NFT, do I need to delegate with Easeflow again?

Yes, you must delegate your EDULand NFT node with Easeflow each time you extend or rent a new EDULand NFT. This ensures your node remains active and eligible for rewards. For Season 2, running your node with Easeflow continues to be free.

What happens to unclaimed EDU after EDULand NFTs expire?

If you’re KYC verified and your node expires, you can still claim rewards through on the claim page. If someone else rents your expired node, you’ll automatically receive your earned EDU when they make their first claim. Their claim will only include rewards from their rental period.

If you’re not KYC verified and someone rents your expired node, your unclaimed EDU from the previous rental period will be forfeited and returned to the rewards pool contract when they make their first claim.
